24. Nice to Meet Ya

My doorbell ringing wakes me up. Who's at my house so early in the morning? I roll over and see that it's actually 12pm. I guess staying up all night finally caught up to me.

I roll out of bed and walk to my door. I look through the peephole and see Andrea there, looking impatient. I open up.

"Andrea! What are you doing here?" I ask.

"Girl, you wouldn't answer any of my texts. And we have so much to catch up on. I haven't seen you since the wedding reception!"

"Okay, can I change first?" I'm only wearing a t-shirt and pajamas shorts right now. That reminds me, I need to give Niall's shirt back.

"Yeah, go put a bathing suit on!" She says. "I texted you that I want to go to the beach."

I go to change. I put on a light yellow bikini and put some jeans shorts over it. I also put on sandals and white sunglasses. I'm having trouble deciding where or not to wear the necklace Niall gave me. I want to, but I don't know if the water will ruin it. Andrea yells at me to hurry up, and I'm already wearing the necklace, so I keep it on.

As soon as Andrea and I step onto the sand, she nudges me. "Look who decided to show up." She says.

I look in her direction and see Kacy strutting down to the sand. She's holding her phone up high and talking to it. She looks stupid, but I guess that's her job.

I look behind where Kacy is walking, and I see who I hope is Niall. He's wearing sunglasses and is under an umbrella, so I try to look a little closer.

"Where are you going? It's crowded over there." Andrea says.

"Wait. I think that's Niall."

I walk a little closer and it is him. He's sleeping. I signal to Andrea to be quiet, and I sneak up on him.

"Boo!" I yell.

Niall jolts awake and looks startled.

"What? Oh, Diana, it's you!" His gaze softens. He gets up to give me a hug, which is a pleasant surprise.

"I was just taking a nap. I'm so tired from the other night." He says, which gets an eyebrow raise from Andrea.

"Yeah, same. I need to give you your shirt back."

"Don't worry about it." He says.

I roll my eyes. I will worry about it. I'm not gonna take something else from him.

"You're still wearing the necklace." He says.

"Of course I am! I love it." I say. "I just hope the water doesn't ruin it."

"It'll probably be fine. Do you and Andrea want to join me? I mean, us." He says, glancing towards Kacy.

Personally, I would love to. But I look at Andrea, and I know she needs to talk about everything that happened lately. And we can't do that with Niall, because it's all about him.

"That's okay." I say. "We won't bother you. But I'll see you around, okay?"

Niall gives me another quick hug, and me and Andrea set up our chairs and umbrella where Niall can't hear us.

"And I thought my night was interesting." Andrea says as soon as we sit down. "Tell me everything."

"Well, we were together the whole time at the wedding. And I needed a ride home so I asked him, but he got on the highway and took the wrong exit. And we were already so far away from LA so we just went all the way to San Francisco and we went to this really nice hotel. Oh yeah, he got me this necklace."

"That was not detailed enough!" Andrea says.

I go through the whole story again, stopping for every little question she has.

"That is amazing. I would literally die." She says.

"Okay, okay, enough about me. What happened to you?" I say.

"Oh my god. It was the best night ever." Andrea says. "So I was talking to Harry all night. He's so sweet, and we got along really well. And then he was going to take an Uber or something but I offered him a ride. And then we got to his apartment and he asked for my number because he said he really liked spending time with me, and it was so romantic." Andrea gushes.

"How are you not freaking out more right now? This is so unlike you." I say.

"Believe me, I was. I had a lot of time to calm down in the day that you ditched me." Andrea says.

"Hey! You're the one who ditched me at the wedding!"

"Well, you're welcome. If I didn't do that you never would have had that night with Niall!" We laugh.

The rest of the day is so fun. Andrea and I swim, get ice cream, walk around, and relax.

While we're sunbathing, I can't help but look at Niall. I never noticed how strong he is. His arms are so strong. And his abs. I've never seen them before, but he basically has a six pack.

While I'm staring at him, he looks over and smiles and waves. I give him and awkward wave and turn away quickly.

We relax for a little while longer, but then I get a text from Don.

Don: Meet me at my office in 2 hours. Dress formally.

Great. What now?

"Is it alright if I go? I have to go meet with Don." I tell Andrea.

"Yeah it's fine. I have to go get ready too. I'm seeing Harry later."

"You didn't tell me that!" I say.

"Yeah well I texted him while you were busy dreaming about Mr. Horan over there."

"You saw that?" I ask.

"Of course. I see everything."

As we're leaving, I turn around to look for Niall, but he disappeared. I wish I got a chance to say bye.
