POEM: Sometimes You Cry

Sometimes you cry
when you're all alone at night
when your coffee turns cold but still black
when you make a step and cannot even look back.

Sometimes you cry
when you hear the waves kiss the sand
when you feel the cry of the trees in the park
when you see a bird flying alone even after dark.

Sometimes you cry
when you think you are sad but you're not
when you try to stand and can't even raise a hand
when you strive to release the words but the words just cannot.

Sometimes you cry
when you walk skin to skin and arm to arm
when you realize you are okay and fine and warm
when you find the hole in your heart filled with colors like an art.

Sometimes you smile.
Sometimes you laugh.
But sometimes you cry.
