My throat dried up as I looked between my past and present. My husband had a smirk plastered on his face, I clenched my jaw resisting the urge to push my knife right into his eye socket. He held my eye with his, a challenge floating through those stormy Grey's. Everytime I thought I had him figured, Vincenzo Hermes managed to throw a curve ball at me. Who the hell he thought he was?
The answered shone proudly in those eyes. He knew exactly who he was, his eyes said enough. Vincenzo Hermes thought himself to be a God.I looked back to Orion, I am sure my face mirrored his face, initial wide eyes now filled with memories, the left side of his lips curled up. I knew how those lips felt, how he always tasted of mint. I knew the nose that was broken twice, I knew the scar and how he got on his jaw, which he clenched, I took him in, his long fingers didn't hold any ring a relief washed over me, but I moved my eyes away. It was wrong. I should've left Orion Hermes, instead of keeping him safe in a corner of my heart. I loved him.
He looked just like how I saw him last, dressed in a black suit I knew he loved. I knew if I moved forward his must scent would fill my senses. I knew hum and it broke my heart into a million pieces. I hated myself for loving him more Thani could breath, I hated him for leaving me , I hated my family for throwing me in such a situation and taking away him from me and mostly I hated the man next to me who decided to use my weakest point to use against me.
My blood boiled as I looked back at him. His eyes changed as he looked between us, his jaw tense. He must have seen me shamelessly staring at his brother. Instead of the initial mocking his eyebrows were furrowed if I had not known it better I would said it was... anger. A feeling I was familiar with. Hot anger, the same look my father had went he saw me with him, the same look Mt brothers had when Hermes were mentioned, but the way he looked was intense, it was something else.
This time me and my husband held gazes, suddenly the weight of the diamond resting felt heavier than I could think. I stepped back and moved beside My husband, like I was supposed to, do what was expected of me no matter how much I felt. He placed his hand on the small of my back, I tried to ignore all the goosebumps I got with the mere feel of his skin on mine. His ring felt cool against my hot skin, reminding me once again that we are bound together. With no love but only duty.
I looked at Orion following the movement and tore his eyes away from mine. I looked up as my husband cleared his throat. I closed my hands in fist, my fingernails diving into my hands. "Orion, this my wife," I felt his grip tighten for a mere second and then his hand slip down, his fingers grazing my skin, "Alexandra," Orion said his eyes locking with Vincenzo. My husband's jaw visibly clenched again noting the unmiskatenly tenderness with what he said. I closed my eyes, even his voice brought many memories.
"Hermes," he said. Orion eyes lifted back to him and I noticed how much they looked alike, same Grey eyes, same dark hair. Orion's was longer, softer falling over his forehead in light waves, while Vincenzo's was styled and short. "Alexandra Hermes, my wife."
Orion let out a laugh devoid of any mirth. "Anything funny brother?" Vincenzo asked. Orion lips quirked of. "Nothing, absolutely nothing," he said holding my gaze as he took steps toward me. Orion always had the ability to make me feel like it was just us, nothing existed but us but right now despite everything I could ignore the man next to me. Vincenzo's presence couldn't be ignored.
"Alexandra," he said holding out his hand in front of me. My husband stiffened, Orion smirked. The tension in the room was undeniable. I swallowed the lump growing in my throat. I was suddenly breathless. My eyes went to Vincenzo looking at us. If he could he would kill Orion by the looks of it. I slipped my hand into his. The same electricity passed everytime we touched. He looked up at me and not breaking his eyecontact brought my hands to his lips and softly brushed his lips against my knuckles. I bit down the gasp.
"Orion Hermes," he smiled.
"Orion," my husband's voice came murderous and cold. Orion glanced at Vincenzo still holding My hand. "Yes, brother?" He asked his voice innocent. "I hope you don't mind while I make acquaintance to your beautiful bride," his eyes shifted to me for a brief second. I didn't miss the hint of sadness I knew him enough and i missed him.
"Master, the dinner was left. Do you wish to continue," a help broke the tension in the room. Vincenzo looked at me and Orion, "Alexandra? What do you think?" He asked. My eyes widened. I looked at Orion, he was already staring. Dinner with my husband and first love? I would rather drop in the ocean with my hands and limbs tied.
Orion must have sensed my discomfort. "I think it's not necessary, we are tired," he said. I wanted to wrap my arms around him. Vincenzo nodded, "I should head back. Goodnight brother" Orion said. He spared a glance at me and nodded, I tried to smile and he was gone. I closed my eyes again and looked up at Vincenzo, his eyes were trained on me. My stomach rumbled I was hungry. I pressed my arms around my stomach.
His gaze dropped."Goodnight Vincenzo," I said heading up in my room. I screamed into my pillow when I heard a small knock. I ran my hand through my hair and slightly opened the door. Vincenzo stood there, looking down. At the sound he looked up at me. "Can I come in?" He asked.
I wanted to slam the door at his face, instead I opened it so he could step in. He walked in. I waited for him to start talking instead he paced around. "Al..." his voice trailed off. "Quit pacing," I said he stopped walking and looked at him. He nodded, "who is he to you?" He asked without a warning. I was taken aback. I raised my chin, "my first love," I said. I watched his expression tighten but it was back to normal but his fist remained clenched. "Do you still," he closed his eyes. "Nevermind, I am sorry for disturbing you. Goodnight Alexandra," with that he walked out of my door. I waited to process the situation when another knock startled me. I rushed to the door only to find Rebecca standing with a tray filled with all the food I liked. "Mr. Hermes wanted you to eat. You were hungry, where would you like it?"
I pressed my lips together. "Inside," I managed to get out. She nodded and placed the tray on the table. My eyes searched for Vincenzo, what was he doing?
