I sit in my dining room, eating the dinner my mother made. I miss the food back in America, except those nasty hotdogs, but it feels great to be eating my mother's cooking too.

Bones had replied to my message earlier today. Ash wasn't home at that time, but I hope he is now. I kept a mental note to send a message to him later on.

"I'm all done. Good night parents." I say with a cheerful tone as I pick my plate up to wash it. "So soon?" I hear my mother's voice behind me. I nod quickly while I dry my hands on the towel and rush upstairs to send a message.

"Hello? Yes?" I heard Bones say as he answered his phone. He had a look of annoyance on his face as he spoke to the person on the other end of the call. He exhaled loudly through his nose and kept his deck of cards down.

I looked at my set of cards. Three of spades, two of hearts, seven of clubs, six of clubs and nine of diamonds. I wasn't winning this game. I looked at the other person playing with us, and then at Bones.

Bones was about to yell at the other person on the call until he stopped. He looked like he had stopped breathing for a few seconds before breathing a few times.

"Thanks for informing me." He said in a low voice before cutting the phone. He didn't look at me or to anyone else.  He just slowly picked up his deck of cards and put on card down. "You good Bones?" I asked with concern in my voice.

"Ash is dead." He mumbled. "What?" I ask in disbelief and confusion. "Ash had been murdered." Bones said loudly which made my blood run cold. The entire bar went silent. Not a single sound. Not a single human dared to move. I get up and grab Bones by a shoulder and pressed it. "Bones... Say that slowly, again."

Instead of doing what I told him too, he swatted my hands away and stood up straight, the glass of alcohol falling to the ground, shattered. "What part do you not get? The one and only, Ash Lynx, is dead." Bones yelled with tears  threatening to spill out. His voice broke a little as he explained what the other person on the call said.

I stared at the ground the entire time, how did Ash die? Who killed him?

"The lady who works there said that she saw him resting his head on the table. She thought he was asleep so she let him be, but then later she noticed blood and tried waking him up but he wasn't waking up. So she rushed to call an ambulance but when she came back only a paper with my number on it was left," Bones continued explaining, "Ash is probably laying dead in a ditch somewhere, and we wouldn't know!"

As soon as Bones finished explaining, I placed my cards aside and immediately got up and rushed outside in the cold snow, to search for Ash. I heard Bones and a couple of other guys calling out my name.

I breathe heavily as I ran. The cold winter air froze my lungs as my feet increased their pace. Ash was probably at the library, but didn't Bones say that he wasnt there when the lady came back?

I stop midway and hold my breath to warm up my lungs. Where could he be? i thought of calling him but then remembered how he left his phone with us.

what do i do, what do i do, what do i do? someone, anyone, please help.

i take my phone once again and call my wife, Jessica. i wait impatiently, getting ready to smash the dang phone onto the cold ground.

...

"Hey." she answers rather calmy.

finally, "I need help. fast, Ash is dead and missing. we-" i try explaining but get cut off
