A Modern Heart In An Ancient Village

Night came around and all I could think about was my meeting with Rengoku at dawn. Finally, an hour before dawn came and dressed in the nearest thing that was near me which was my dress. I sneakily made my way towards the door, but when I was making my way I accidentally kicked my mothers pot which made a small sound when it fell. I quickly looked around making sure everyone was still asleep. I got out of the house and went to the meeting spot. I looked around and saw no one so I sat on a nearby rock and waited until a hand was pushed against my mouth and I heard a voice saying. " Don't scream, it's me Renguko." I nodded and he let go of my arm. " Come take my hand." I took his hand and followed him to the other side of the island. While I was exploring I found a crystal cave that was really nice at dawn. I didn't say anything and just followed. In a couple of minutes we got there and I was astonished as the sun rose and we saw how beautiful the crystals lit up. Unconsciously, I laid my head on Rengoku's shoulder and looked at the sky. We stayed like that for a couple minutes until Renguko lifted my face and said,"Listen I know how you are soon to marry but please say no to him, and date me." Just then we felt the earth shake and as soon as we felt it we tried to run out of the cave. The cave beat us to it and its entrance collapsed. We were stuck! "Help! Help!" I screamed into the rocks hoping someone would pass by. " It's useless no one knows we are here." Just then an aftershock happened and Rengoku ran towards me hugging me protectively. As one of the sharp rocks fell it cut one of the closed wounds which it made to reopen the wound. "Gah!"

"Renguko!" I turned around helping him get away from the entrance. I knelt down to him and ripped off a piece of my dress and wrapped it around his leg wound. " Thanks." Rengoku shifted his leg away from me. " I'm sorry Rengoku." I lowered my head down like a puppy asking for forgiveness. "Don't call me by my last name, call me Kyojuro!" He said loudly and with a big smile. "Hmhmh!" He reached his arm closer to my face and ....... moved a strand of hair away from my face. Then all of a sudden we see the cave entrance being unblocked by my family and a few people from our family army. I quickly moved away from Kyojuro as soon as I saw my fathers face fuming with anger. He stepped into the cave and dragged me from the ear going away from Kyojuro. And once outside in front of everyone my father slapped me so hard saliva out of my mouth. "Hey don't you dare hit her!" Kyojuro yelled at my father. While Kuina and Amane ran to him and covered his mouth " How dare you embarrass me and my family's name! You will be severely punished and you. " Father turned to face Kyojuro. "You will be sent out of this island at once!" Fathers men grabbed me and pushed me to start walking. As we arrived back at the house the men skipped the house and went to the back of the house into a small hut where they put people who commit a bad crime. Just then father came in, giving them permission to hit till I faint. They didn't wait a second to pounce on me and started hitting while my father turned his back towards me. This went on for an hour til my eyes closed.

My eyes could not believe what happened. Y/n was taken away then, soon after it was me who was taken to meet with Chief Ubuyashiki. I had never seen a man so angry before I suddenly blackout. He said, "How dare you try and ruin an arranged marriage."

" Y/n! Y/n! Wake up!" Mother gently shook me awake. Mother quickly put some water in a seashell and put it on my bruised lips. " Where is Rengoku?" I said with all my might trying not to hurt my lungs. " You poor thing! You're worried for your lover aren't you." 

" Mother please!" 

" Sorry but all you can think about is Renguko." 

" Well that's because I hurted him during the earthquake."

 "Oh I'm sorry dear we put him in the boat and shipped him off to sea." 

 " By himself?" 

" Yes." I turned the other side of her while she took my hand trying to cure my hand from my wounds. "How long will I be here?"
