Years ago in a small village now known as Mystic Falls.

There was a family of eight.

Not a very happy family nor a very sad one either. Yet they all loved each other in their own way.

The father was brutal to his children wanting the boys to all be strong like him.

While their mother wanted them to be more themselves and wanted them to be happy.

Yet, she never once stood up to her husband whenever he was hurting their children.

Today happened to be the birthday of the youngest of the family's.

He wanted to do one thing most in the world with his older brother Niklaus. He wanted to watch the men in their village turn into beasts.

Yet fate had other plans. He was attacked by one of the beasts. It had messed up one of his legs and left deep gashes on him.

As Esther brought him to see Anya. She knew he might not make it through the night.

But despite her knowing that he might not make it through the night. She had gently laid some herbal salves on his chest hoping the magic in them would help.

Esther and Mikael both planned on finding a way to keep their children alive even if it came at a cost.

Henrik was asleep as Anya searched through her creations and other trinkets to find something to help the young boy walk with his leg.

She had heard him talking to someone.

Peaking her head around the corner.

She swore she saw a young girl smiling down at Henrik. She smiles as she held his hand. She hand her other hand over his chest.
