"Professor, with all due respect, do I really have to attend this ceremony right this second?" I asked with a hint of annoyance in my tone. After all, we quite literally were attacked by a fire-breathing dragon, as well as fighting a bunch of stone knights, all while not even setting a foot close to Hogwarts, which is where I'd be spending the rest of my days for quite a while, regardless of the late entry.
"Y/N, I understand your frustration, and I am truly sorry for how things played out, nothing was planned nor expected. But yes, you must attend this ceremony, as it places you where you stand within Hogwarts! After the ceremony, I shall show you to your room and you will be in your new bed in no time." Professor Fig exclaimed. I have to admit, regardless of the upmost extreme and nearly life-taking introduction, he managed to make me smile a bit. He had already been protecting me like I was his own, which was something I heavily appreciated, being new and all, and given my past. He gave me a warm smile as the two large double doors opened up and a tall man with black hair and a black thick mustache and beard looked down at me.
"You are late." He spat, glaring his deep green eyes into mine.
"My apologies, sir. We had a bump in the sky on the way here. Had to use a longer way." Professor Fig intervened, leaving my lips slightly parted as I was going to give him my two sense, luckily Fig knew to act fast.
"I was talking to her." He grits his teeth, not even lifting an eye off of me as Fig spoke to him. I glared my eyes back into his as if they were daggers. I wasn't one to care about respecting elders, nor respecting just "anyone" with authority. If I wasn't treated with respect, neither will they.
"And he spoke the truth. What more can possibly be said?" I furrowed my eyebrows as the two men looked astonished over the fact I had the nerve to speak back. I adjusted myself and inhaled deeply, exhaling shortly after. "Look, I apologize for the tone, however I would really like to be sorted and asleep. I was not expecting such a delay in our travels and now must condense my "to-do" list in a timely manner." I spoke in a calmer tone, everything of what I had just said was a straight lie, yet my tone and look was condescending, as if I was pleading for forgiveness all while asking for an apology as well; and like usual, I won.
"Right... well, my apologies for the inconvenience during your travels. Let us get this over with and you shall be escorted to your common room. I am Headmaster Black, please address me as such." His gaze softened yet still had the authoritative stare, which was expected, and I respected that.
"Thank you. I'm Y/N L/N." I nodded as he did as well, Professor Fig was delighted I had taken charge for myself and spoke up and gave Black a grin, he gave him the stink eye in return.
The doors open all the way as I was greeted with all four long tables with floating candles above them, the colored tapestries on the tables were red, yellow, blue and green. My eyes were wondering all around, mesmerized by the absolute beauty of this place. It was like walking in a painting, pure art.
"Isn't that the girl who slayed the dragon?" One student whispered.
"No! She didn't slay it! But I did hear she fought those Gringotts Knights!" Another whispered in return.
"You're bluffing, she could never take that!" One spat.
'I simply could never.' I thought to myself as a grin appeared on my lips, walking past the students and tables to get to the hat. I felt eyes all glued on me, however there was one in particular that made me feel seen. I looked to my left and met my eyes with beautiful brown ones that glowed from the candle lights. He had chestnut brown fluffy hair and the most adorable freckles, honestly. After a second of staring at each other, he flashed me a quick grin as I did back. His gaze was strong on me, yet soft while staring. 'Interesting...'
