I had no clue what my father looked like or how on earth I was going to find him in this airport witch by the way was extremely claustrophobic. I grabbed my bags and began to walk out of the airport. The thick humid air surrounded me as I stepped outside. I glanced around feeling extremely lost. I sigh getting annoyed. A car pulled up in front of me the tinted windows and shiny red paint job made it obvious that it was expensive also the fact that it was a BMW. The passenger side window rolled down to reveal a small blonde woman.
"Siren?" she asked her voice light as she smiled at me. I roll my eyes already hating her.
"Yes, and who are you?" My voice was hard as I spoke I see her flinch a little.
"I'm your father's assistant Elizabeth" she says still in that annoyingly sticky sweet voice. "He sent me to come pick you up" she continues when I don't respond. She gets out of her fancy car and walks over to me slowly picking up my two bags then placing them into the trunk, she glances around her eyebrows raised.
"That's all of your bags?" I hear the pity dripping from her voice, I cringe.
"Yeah that's all of them, can we just go?" I almost whisper my voice close to breaking. She nods closing the trunk then walking back to the driver side. I climb into the passenger seat. I feel her eyes on me as I close the door
"All set?" her voice drips into the uncomfortable space I look out the widow then nod as I put my headphones in and playing Blink-182. We don't speak as she drives seeming as to how I was doing my best to avoid any conversation with the preppy blonde. I hum along to Down as Mark gets into the chorus I begin to lip sync soon not realizing that there was actually sound exiting my lips. We pull up to a cobble stone condo.
I pause my music then pull out my headphones as I get out of the car.
"You have a beautiful voice Siren." Elizabeth whispers to me I look at her a little embarrassed.
"Oh uh thanks I guess She pops the trunk grabbing the same two bags she put in; I grab the remaining bag then close the trunk. She leads us up to the stairs then into the elevator."Your father had your room decorated but you can do whatever you would like with it, also he said that he would like to take you shopping tomorrow to get whatever you need." I nod slightly excited. We walk to the door labeled B17; I make a mental note to remember that. We walk into the condo quietly. The front room had gray walls and black furniture littered the space. I smile at the room
"I'll show you to your room, and just to let you know your father will be home in about twenty minutes and he wishes to take you to dinner." I nod just to let her know that I was listening and follow her silently down a hall then up a stair case.
Elizabeth pulled open a door at the very end of the hallway the room had dark blue almost purple walls, brown antique furniture, a queen size bed and a large closet. Elizabeth sets my bags on the bed turning to be slowly sort of like she was dreading even looking at me, I smirk her act was starting to fail I think she knew I saw right through her.
"I'll be down stairs if you need me; feel free to help yourself to anything in the kitchen and the other rooms all your father asked is that you stay out of his office." She says her voice getting sharp. I smile sarcastically
"Thanks so much Elizabeth." She glares at me then leaves closing the door behind her. I let out a sigh shaking my head I could tell that Elizabeth and I would not be getting along anytime soon I could feel he hate towards me.
I run my fingers through my hair letting out another sigh then walking around the beautiful room. I open up the closet door causing my mouth to fall open slightly. I flip on the light stepping into the large space. I bite my lip lightly whispering under my breath
"Wow." I swallow sharply attempting to contain my excitement I had never had a closet.
"What do you think?" a voice behind me asked, I turn around slowly no emotion on my face, I take in the man's features, dark eyes and hair tan skin tall nice clothes and shoes
"I think that it's beautiful." I say simply, my usual strong voice nothing more than just a tiny whisper. The man smiles warmly at me nothing like any smile I was used to receiving.
"I'm your father, Mark in case you didn't know." He says sitting in the desk chair by the window giving me a view of the trees and the pool in the back yard area. I nod slowly.
"I kinda guessed that' I let out a nervous laugh feeling awkward. He smiles again making me feel a little less nervous.
"Well then Siren it's wonderful to finally meet you, would you like to join me for a dinner out in town?" His words make me smile something I'll never get used to doing and mean it. I walk out of the closet, looking at Mark.
"Yes I would love to." I look down at my ripped skinny jeans Green Day shirt and all black Vans, normal for me.
"Uh will this be okay to wear?" I ask my voice breaking at the end of wear. I clear my throat. Mark nods,
"Yes, don't worry I'm not taking you anywhere fancy just casual, I wouldn't want to scare you off." He laughs lightly making me happy and comfortable. He stands and together we exit my room walking down the empty halls.
Marks car was a dim blue Honda Acord much more casual than little miss I'm so Perfect's car. I get in as Mark starts the engine. I close my door then buckle up cause you know safety first. Then we drove out of the subdivision and into the small-ish town.
