What is schizophrenia?
At fifteen, Yoongi didn't know.
Talking to himself.
Hearing voices.
He thought it stopped here.
But it didn't.
Schizophrenia is a psychotic disorder that can take many different forms.
Generally speaking, it is organized around three axes.
-disorganization or dissociation
which signifies the loss of psychic unity.
Paranoid delusions and so-called positive or productive symptoms
based on acoustic/verbal and intrapsychic hallucinations.
-deficit or negative symptoms
which are a disinvestment in reality, a progressive withdrawal, and a diminished ability to think, speak and act.
He didn't know then, either.
That the disease could progress.
Evolve positively or negatively.
But now.
At twenty-five.
He knew every detail of his illness.
Ten years of living with it.
Ten years his father denied him.
Ten years of refusing to accept it in public.
"Are you out of your mind and think you can be the new face of my company?"
When he was younger.
His father promised him the best.
"You will succeed me."
"You will be my pride."
"I will give you my place."
Nonsense.
Yoongi had ended up as a pizza delivery boy.
He'd been kicked out of the family home.
At the age of nineteen.
He lived in a small apartment.
In an isolated street.
To be honest, that was enough for him.
His neighborhood was quiet.
There was a small grocery store across the street.
No one judged him on anything.
Since, he barely spoke to his neighbors.
He had a few friends.
Whom he saw little, but whom he saw.
Besides.
One of his friends worked in the grocery store.
The one opposite his house.
Two years his junior.
Kim Tae Hyung.
Yoongi told him about it.
About his illness, of course.
And the brunet had never judged him.
On that or anything else.
Like his five other friends.
Kim Seok Jin.
Jung Ho Seok.
Kim Nam Joon.
Park Ji Min.
Jeon Jeong Guk.
They were the only ones who had never judged him.
While he was home alone.
Like most of the time.
His doorbell rang.
Making him grumble.
He went to open the door.
Taking care to check who it was before.
"What do you want?"
He left only a small opening.
Just to let his head through.
"I have to tell you something, Hyung!"
The blond sighed.
But let his younger son in.
"What?"
The dark-haired man turned to his elder.
His rectangular smile glued to his lips.
"I've found another job! Better paid and closer to home!"
What did Yoongi care?
"And?"
The younger man frowned.
With a pout.
"You could be happy for me anyway!"
A laugh escaped from the blond's throat.
As he went to get two beers.
He handed her one before raising his own to his mouth.
"I'm happy for you."
"All of a sudden, at the grocery store, I had to train someone else to replace me."
Taehyung explained that he had liked it.
Loved teaching things.
Yoongi listened attentively.
Although, his explanations were incomprehensible.
"You'll let me know if I've done a good job, won't you?"
The older man laughed again.
"I'll tell you, don't worry."
