Mario watched as Farrell's plane took off, disappearing into the sky. He knew it was for the best. It had been months since they both agreed to just be best friends, but Mario couldn't help the pang of sadness in his chest.
He tried to keep himself busy, throwing himself into his work and his hobbies. He even started dating again, trying to find someone who could take his mind off of Farrell.
But no matter what he did, his thoughts always came back to his best friend. Mario knew he had to move on, but it was easier said than done. He still loved Farrell, but he had come to accept that they were only meant to be friends.
Months passed, and Mario received a surprise message from Farrell. He was moving to Japan for a new job opportunity and wanted Mario to come visit.
Mario knew he couldn't pass up the chance to see his best friend again. He booked a ticket and arrived in Japan a few days later.
As they reunited at the airport, Mario felt his heart skip a beat. Farrell looked as handsome as ever, but Mario reminded himself that they were just friends.
They spent the week exploring Tokyo, laughing and joking like they always did. Mario couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness though, knowing that he could never have Farrell the way he truly wanted.
On their last night together, they sat on a rooftop, overlooking the city lights. Farrell turned to Mario, his eyes shining with emotion.
"Mario, I want you to know that even though we're just friends, you will always hold a special place in my heart," Farrell said, taking Mario's hand in his.
Mario felt tears prick at his eyes. He had never stopped loving Farrell, but he knew he had to let him go.
"I feel the same way, Farrell," Mario said, his voice cracking. "You will always be my best friend, no matter what."
They hugged tightly, both feeling the weight of their unspoken emotions. As they parted ways at the airport the next day, Mario knew that this was truly the end.
He had finally accepted that they were only meant to be friends, and that was okay. As Mario boarded his plane, he wiped away tears, knowing that he would always love Farrell, but it was time to move on.
