user1: how did you and callie get into figure skating? and talia and clara for ballet?
amalielosyala: Our grandparents! We're half Russian and our nana taught ballet for 38 years. Her husband, our grandpa, lived on a large farm and there's a huge pond that always freezes over. He would skate everyday and we learned just regular ice skating from him when we'd visit. Then we wanted to do more, so our parents put us in classes in Alaska 💕user2: You are Russian fully?
amalielosyala: Russian/Polish :)user3: What is your 3 fave shows you've done?
amalielosyala: swan lake on ice in 2019, narnia on ice in 2022 and frozen on ice in 2023!user4: Do you and your siblings have different parents?? You have different last name?
amalielosyala: 😂 no. We're all just married now 😊user5: Go bills...say it back!
analielosyala: gooo billsss 💙❤️user6: What's your favorite thing about Patrick?
amalielosyala: My fave thing about Pat is his never ending love for me. He's so supportive and loving, always. I couldn't have found a better guy. 🫶🏼user7: how many hours do you train? and when do you start training for shows?
amalielosyala: depends on the season! throughout the year, i do privates on and off ice, pilates and yoga that focus on flexibility and mobility. I try to do all of that every week for about 8 hrs a day. I usually give myself grace at the beginning of shark week lol. For shows, we always perform in the fall/winter so we are practicing spring/summer.user8: Do you know what show is next year?
amalielosyala: I believe it's Romeo & Juliet on Ice, but I'm not 100%user9: Why hasn't your company done The Nutcracker on Ice?
amalielosyala: A lot of reasons 🥺 I want to do it so bad. The company is full of 50/50 rn. Meaning, half of us are freelancers (like me) and the other half are contracters. The company started in 2018 and has slowly gained people but it takes a while bc a lot of people who join, are doing ice skating for fun. Whereas all the freelancers and contracters are professional figure skaters. To do these shows, we need professionals who can do the choreography and can perform without having to deal with child labor law stuff...obviously there's a lot of students and young people that perform in our other shows but those sequences don't tend to require as many people. But The Nutcracker has a huge cast, that we always fall short with by 5-10 people. It's in the works though. I believe some negotiations and things have to be signed for performers under 18 to perform. Soon I hopeee
user9: Oh I see. Can't your company hold auditions to get more professionals?
amalielosyala: Yes and I believe they will be doing this after our season is done this year. I think it's mainly the kid issue bc we tour.user10: Is figure skating harder than pointe ballet?
user4: no haha. point is so muchhhh harder.
amalielosyala: I don't think they can be compared tbh! Both are super different and they require different skills. A lot of similarities though. Both require performers to be aesthetically pleasing to watch and both sports require dedication.
user10: What about skates vs pointe shoes?
amalielosyala: I've never done pointe so I can't speak on that. But my sisters work so hard and I know it's painful for them. Skates can be painful at times, if they aren't fitted properly or broken in. Can cause a lot of issues to the feet. But once you're fitted and broken them in, you're usually ready to go. Pointe has a lot of components.user11: Will Talia and Clara be coming to any of your shows?
amalielosyala: Talia isss. Clara can't though. She's super busy preparing for The Nutcracker and teaching ballet.
