The farm is gorgeous at sunset. All the yellow, pink, and orange creating a beautiful blend of colors across the sky. Combined with the white barn and the 2 acres of pumpkin patches, it looks like it's from a dream. And me being a dreamer, I wish it was.

I can't enjoy this scene for long though, it gets freezing in Santa Maria and I would love to keep my fingers. Plus my mom is waiting for me, call it a gut feeling but it's not for something good. Probably about how I feel asleep in science, or how I failed my math test. "Lucy! I know you are at the door, come in we need to talk." Shit. "Um, coming mom." As I kick off my white high top vans and open the door I can see her in the living room sitting on the sofa with a really pleasant look on her face.  Eyebrows raised and everything. "So... Your teacher called. What were you doing instead of sleeping to make you fall asleep in class?"  Come on Lucy think what's a good excuse!? "I couldn't sleep... I'm sorry." She sighed "Fine just please try to sleep next time then."

"Speaking of sleep, it's late so I should get ready and go to bed it's a school night too" "Ah, yes sorry, but after school I need you to sell this years harvest of pumpkins at the fair. And who knows, maybe you'll meet someone?" "No, in your dreams mom, stop trying to get me to get a boyfriend. All the boys here suck." I say looking at the ceiling. "A mom can wish can't she?" I roll my eyes and head upstairs and all she does is shrug innocently.

It's a very short chapter I know but I am kinda feeling things out and figuring out the storyline so bear with me.
