A Chance to be Heroes
Nightshade stared in amazement. Real. Live. DeepWings. They looked just like described. She tried to keep her excitement down, but she made a shrill, high pitched noise and one turned to look at her.
It was light blue with silver spots and a dopey grin. But the DeepWing: a male, saw her and his grin turned into a blank expression that seemed intent on getting her. He began walking uniformly toward her, and Nightshade knew she was in trouble. She lept out of her tree and caught a breeze, flying higher and higher up.
She flung out her wings to stop in the sky. She looked around and saw no one. She gave a breath of relief. And then she fell. Turns out, when your wings are too small to fly and you abandon the breeze, YOU FALL!
Nightshade wasn't sure if she was screaming or not in the panic, but she was pretty sure she was making a noise somewhat like,
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-" You get the point. She fell through the branches of a large oak tree, making an "OOF" sound every time she hit one. Which was about every two seconds.
Nightshade finally hit the ground with a loud thump, and all the breath she had left was pushed out of her. Another loud thump echoed through the trees, and a heavy weight was on top of her. She twisted her head to look at who it was.
"Gotcha!" It was the light blue DeepWing. Nightshade sighed, and made herself dead weight. The DeepWing lifted her up with no problems, and slung her across his back like a meat sack. (What is a meat sack? Why did I just think that? What is wrong with my brain? A sack. I mean a sack.)
At one point Nightshade tried to take off but the DeepWing didn't even look back as he slammed her back onto his back.
"Can you just let me go?"
"You know the DeepWings are alive. We can not return you." Nightshade did a bunch more sighing and was eventually stuffed into a waterproof cage on the beach and taken deep deep deeeeep down. Like, so far down there were cavefish. They have no eyes. Very creepy. Nightshade had heard that some DeepWings didn't have eyes. Very, VERY creepy.
Nightshade looked out of the glass cage and didn't see anything. Complete, utter, darkness.

Ghost slid out from under a bush. "She should be here by now."
"Maybe Queen Raspberry kept her long with a speech or something."
"No. No. She's never late. Something's wrong." Just then, a scream echoed through the trees.
"COME ON! That's Nightshade."
"Ghost, how do you know? I don't feel like going towards the screaming." Azalea complained.
"I can recognize Nightshade's voice. NOW COME ON! Azalea, stop gazing at yourself in that puddle. Rhododendron, get down from that tree."
"But-"
"Rho, GET DOWN NOW."
"Fine." Ghost lifted into the air, and Rho and Azalea followed. They circled in on where the screaming had come from, and there was Nightshade. With a big DeepWing on her.
"Stay back" Ghost ordered.
"You think I was planning on walking up to the scary dragon and saying, 'HELLO SIR, WHAT'S YOUR NAME? FEEL FREE TO TAKE ME HOSTAGE OR EAT ME OR SOMETHING.'" Ghost shot Azalea a glare for that, and was thankful for Rho's mono-syllable, outdoorsy, quiet attitude.
"Stay quiet." Ghost whispered. Azalea and Rho nodded, and began following the DeepWings and Nightshade. They came to the bay, and Nightshade was stuffed inside a glass cage and dragged down under the sea.
"WE HAVE TO SAVE NIGHTSHADE!" Azalea gasped.
"Shut up A" Rho muttered.
"THANK YOU, RHO"
"You too Ghost"
"Rude," Ghost said, making Rho crack a smile and she looked upon the vast ocean. Ghost followed her gaze.
"We have to go get her." Rho whispered.
"And we will."
"HEY, WHY WASN'T I INCLUDED IN THE HEROIC DRAMATICNESS?"
"SHUT UP, AZALEA!"
