IM OUT OF RETIREMENT RAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Ironically, you never liked the military. you always thought they were full of toxic men and that the funding was a waste. I mean, 600 billion??? What could that possibly be used for? But alas, here you are applying for a bartending position at a bar filled with men and women in uniform. In your defense, money is tight.
Hard Deck Bar, owned by Penny Benjamin, is a standard social gathering spot. There's pool, darts, and... a piano... okay weird choice for a bar but it works with the atmosphere surprisingly well.
Penny's voice pulls you out of your thoughts, "Do you know how to play?"
"Sorry-?"
"The piano. Do you know how to play?"
"Ah, no. I used to take lessons as a kid but I can only remember a portion of possibly twinkle twinkle little star. I still haven't figured it out"
Penny gives you a laugh. That's always good for an application, yeah?
"I guess we can add that to your resume," Penny picks up a pen and on the top left empty corner of your stapled stack of papers she writes Can possibly play twinkle twinkle little star on the piano. "Alright let's begin."
Penny goes through the standard questions. Questions such as:
"What's your name? First and last?"
"(Y/n) (L/n)"
"Do you have a preferred name?"
"Yes, (P/n)"
"What hours can you work?"
"Currently, I can work any time."
Penny scribbles on a clip board.
"Alright, any last questions before we wrap this up?" Penny asks.
"Yes, I do have one." I look past Penny and read off a wood sign with the words 'DISRESPECT A LADY, THE NAVY, OR PUT YOUR CELL PHONE ON MY BAR YOU BUY EVERYONE A ROUND' burned into it. "Is that decoration or an actual policy?"
Penny laugh, "An actual policy. You'd be surprised how effective it is at keeping people's phones off my bar."
Penny can sense your tension. "Don't worry I know you'll keep your cellphone off my bar, and I have no doubt you'll be respectful."
"Thank you, that's reassuring."
We both stand and she lets me know she'll give me a response in a week. You thank her, and exit through the right door (the other was locked. Suppose it's supposed to enforce more of a system).
