Zee
Not wanting to let his fiancée go, Zee helped him up and wrapped him back in his arms as soon as they stood. He backed them to the lounge chair he sat in when he watched Nhu's moon dance, pulled Nhu on his lap, sat him between his legs, and rested his chin on his shoulder.
Nhu turned his head and kissed him, sliding his tongue into his mouth and moaning softly. Zee opened his mouth and let his tongue do amazing things, dancing and curling around his tongue, and enjoyed the few moments before he would put a stop to it.
He pushed Nhu away once he knew he reached his limit. He didn't want things to get out of hand. He was sure that as soon as he put the ring on Nhu's finger, his fiancée would continue his full-court press to get him in the bedroom.
He needed to tell him about what happened with Mófǎ and his childhood. She was dangerous, and she would be coming for them. Anything else in their life could wait. This could not. She was a ticking time bomb that could go off at any moment.
Nhu looked at him and jerked away, which surprised him. The lusty looks were gone. Instead, he saw weariness and someone who was very guarded. Nhu had a look on his face as if he had slapped him. How could the joyous moment they shared and the one he had dreamed of for three years turn so wrong instantly?
"What just happened," he wondered.
The change shocked him. Did Nhu feel that he was indifferent to him or something even worse? Maybe he pushed him away one too many times? He had to fix it, but before he could say anything, Nhu began speaking.
"Three years is a long time. I realize now that I was wrong. I should not have pushed to move whatever this is to the natural conclusion. I got ahead of myself and didn't think things through. I should have kept more distance. Maybe I should not have gotten so excited about something we hadn't discussed yet," Nhu sounded tired and defeated.
Zee saw something that made the fear begin to grow in his gut. It was the same look in Nhu's eyes the last night he saw him before disappearing. If that were Nu's plan, he would ensure it never happened. He could not suffer through another separation from him. Three years was long enough. He will not leave him again.
That can never happen. At this moment, he wished he could turn back time. He would have done things differently. He would have taken all that Nhu wanted and given him a hundred-fold back. Instead of pulling away, he would have been more vocal in his feelings.
His stupid plans, all his ducks in a row, seemed like a great plan when he made them, but apparently, he needed to catch up on some crucial details. He forgot that Nhu had feelings too. His goal was all about him and nothing about Nhu. It was like a house of cards.
He would have never pushed Nhu away if he knew this would happen. He can't leave him again. He couldn't take it. He was determined to keep him no matter what the cost. Zee knew he needed to watch him closely and not let him out of sight until whatever happened was resolved.
