Two Ghosts- Harry Styles

Every time I suggest an idea to him, he immediately shuts it down. With no explanation as to why he doesn't like the idea. He just says "no" or "I dont like it". Then starts complaining about everything he possibly can. I truly think he is doing all this just to make me jump off a damn cliff.

Right now, we're in the conference room with a team of other lawyers and some of his workers discussing plans as to how we can prove that Xavier's company didn't breach their contract with King Corporation and other boring lawyer stuff.

My team of lawyers are sitting on one side of the long conference table, while his team sits on the other side; and of course he is sitting right across from me. All the meetings, including this one have been the same.

With my face in my hands. I started to explain myself again to him,"I'm only going to say this one more time Mr. Kilne, we are using this certain defense technique because it has worked for cases like yours."

I removed my face from my hands and stared at Xavier. He looked at me with a blank stare; he gives me the same damn stare every time I talk, then he'll proceed to speak against me. I will bet anyone a million dollars that he will, and he'll complain again about my defense technique.

"I just don't understand how you know that this strategy will one-hundred percent work?" Someone owns me a million dollars.

There it is again, he keeps questioning my abilities as if I'm a rookie. I know that I haven't been a lawyer for a long time, but that doesn't mean I'm not good at my job. I work in a field where people are always undermining and competing with each other, so to be undermined by a client for 2 weeks straight is what finally sent me off.

"Mr. Kline, may I be very blunt and honest, with no disrespect, of course." I stared at him with a tight-lipped smile while searching for his face for an indication of approval. All he gave he did was move his hand in a "go ahead motion"

"You came to this law firm because we're one of the best if not the best law firm in the country, and the man who runs this law firm put me in charge of this case because; and please excuse my language, I am damn good at my job." I give him another tight-lipped smile. He opens his mouth to say something, but i'm not done with my rant yet.

"Yet, you keep questioning my plans and ability to do my job correctly. Which, unfortunately, leads me to believe that you do not trust that I can win this case for you and your company." With that, I stand up from my seat. "If I am correct about my assumption, please let me or my boss know so that we can appoint you to another lawyer or another law firm that can help you."

I didn't realize that it was so quiet in the room until I stopped talking. All eyes were on him, waiting for a response. Xavier doesn't make many faces, it's a talent of his, but I picked up on a few facial ques that give away what he's feeling. I could tell that he's angry because of a certain wrinkle on his forehead.
