CAUTION! there is mention of eating habits but nothing too descriptive
You stayed for a bit longer until you couldn't handle his humming anymore. Plus you had work tomorrow and your sleep was already messed up with having to sleep on the sofa bed. Maybe you should just sleep on the sofa. Less hassle for you at least.
Happy with the plan you have, you slowly get up and tell Alastor that you're going back to the house to sleep.
"Already? I just got here" you could have sworn he was pouting through that smile.
"I have work tomorrow" you state simply as you use the tree to get up as well as lean on when your thigh decided to say 'hold your horses' "plus I need to talk to you all about getting spare clothes and sleepwear if you want some anyway because I doubt its comfortable sleeping in clothing for long periods of time, demon or not"
These were your final words as you begin to limp away, you only falter when he calls out.
"Good night my dear, be mindful of the shadows now"
"I'm not your deer" you mutter as you leave the clearing, although you were silently wondering what he meant by that. You really didn't like walking in the woods at night, mainly because you couldn't navigate well with limited vision from a torch, and the path you followed wasn't like your typical modern-day pavements.
But by some stroke of luck you managed it, dispite the paranoia and fear bubbling in your chest, you managed to get back without getting lost once. A new record for you to be sure.
As soon as you enter through your back door you run straight for your bedroom, grab your pajamas, and get changed in the bathroom once again. It's funny how you once felt comfortable and safe in your PJ's, now you felt naked when being around the demons like this morning.
You had thought it was amazing that you hadn't freaked out about it, only to remember that you already did when they first got here. At least you were (and had been) wearing your more 'mature' clothing than your childish ones. That would have been even more embarrassing.
You quickly do your nightly routine and finish off with brushing your teeth, then you pick up your clothes to throw them in the washing basket since they were covered in dirt and grass. Gross.
However, when you step into your room, you find Alastor sitting down on your bed about to take off his shoes, only to look up when he heard your footsteps.
You look at him in shock for a second wondering how in the blazes he got there so fast. Then you sum it up to demon speed and just throw your dirty washing into the basket, pick up your blanket, say good night to him, and leave. Points to you for sounding like it hadn't bothered you in the slightest.
You were freaking out on the inside though. You lay down on the sofa with your blanket wrapped around you, maybe you'll get lucky and have your fur baby sleep on your chest tonight. Hopefully.
You've rarely seen them ever since the demons appeared, you weren't surprised honestly, they were scary to look at. Angel certainly, the extra pair of arms creeped the hell out of you, Alastor for his smile, and the cat demon you honestly wanted to pet and feel what his fur and wings felt under your hands. If it wasn't for his claws.
Obviously, you wouldn't have done it without permission, you could be impulsive sure, but you would never touch something/one without consent.
You weren't like H I M. And you would rather die before doing something like that.
With that thought running through your already active brain, you curl under the blanket and face the back of the sofa, silently wishing your cat would climb up and sit on you.
You never could sleep well without your fur baby close by.Alastor watched in the darkness as 'Echo' tried to sleep. He was honestly surprised they were able to get any sleep on that thing, it obviously couldn't be comfortable let alone good for that bad leg of theirs. Especially when they had to curl up just to fit on it.
So weak, so frail. And yet there was a spark of, something. Something that was keeping them from kicking the bucket. A determination he had never seen before. Well, in life anyway, Charlie definitely had it for that ridiculous thing she had going on.
But the question was, what was making them hold onto this last thread of living? What was so important that it stopped them from just ending everything now? They were living a life he had lived too, not completely of course, but close enough.
This puzzle felt more complicated than it should be, but it was still amazing to look at, and hopefully, put together soon.
Taking one last look at the sleeping form, he turned and walked back to 'his room' for a quick nap. They said that they didn't have much breakfast in the morning, so perhaps he could make a simple, light meal for everyone. And maybe this time they would stay long enough to finish it. And then the both of them could have that walk Echo promised during dinner.
He hasn't felt this entertained since Charlie started her ridiculous hotel program a few months ago.
