Chapter 1-5

Chapter 1

As I was sitting on the park bench, I heard my name being shouted out by someone.

''Anice!"

I was too busy listening to 'Hey there Delilah' with my my neon pink head phones on to acknowledge them. A few seconds later I heard it again.

''Anice!''

It took me a few seconds to turn, and I was then face to face with my best friend, Sunshine. I had been waiting a few minutes for her to show up.

Sunshine and I met in our first year of high school, we've been thick as thieves since then. I took of my head phones and I walked closer to her.

"I'm sorry." I quickly apologized.

"It's okay." she said as she nodded.

"So what was so urgent that you needed to see me now?" she inquired and waited for me to answer.

"It's Roger and I. I was going to ask if I can stay at--," she immediatly cut me off.

"What happend?" she asked with a confused look on her face.

"Nothing," I quickly say, "I was going to ask you if I could stay over your house for a couple of nights, please?"

"I'm serious. What happend?" she sternly asked me with her brows knitted together.

I tried to try to change the subject, but she was very persistent about it. Moments later, she spoted the green-ish yellow bruises on my jaw.

"What is that?"she asked, "has Roger been hiting you?!"

Soon tears welled up in my eyes and when I could no longer contain them, they started to stream down my face.

"You can stay at mt place for as long as you need." she forces a small smile in my direction.

"Thank you." I said as I wiped my eyes.

"What a jerk.." she grunted as she kicked a pebble.

We headed home immediatly, I was an emotional wreck and on top of it all, I was exhausted.

When we got home, Sunshine lended me some sweats and a t-shirt. We sat down on the couch and just talked about everything.

The next morning I woke up on the same small couch. I heard some rummaging and pots hitting against each other coming from the kitchen. I got up and headed to the kitchen.

It was Sunshine. She turned and greeted me. "Good morning!" she chirped.

I greeted her back. "Good morning."

"You should go freshen up, breakfast is almost ready." she informs me.

I quickly went to the bathroom and washed my hands then I came back and the food was served on a light blue plate infront of me.

"Yum!"

Sunshine smiled and we both dug in.

"So, today I'm going to go get some food and a couple of other things. Wanna to come?" She asked.

"No thanks, I think I'll just stay here."

"Okay, on my way I'll get a movie and snacks."

"Ok, great." I replied

"I might come home late like around eight."

"It's okay." I said, as we both finished up and I started to clean up.

Sunshine rushed to her room to change, then she quickly ran out and yelled out a "Bye!" Then the door shut.

I went to the couch and turned on the tv. I watched it for a few minutes before I got bored of it and passed out.
