Kenma was texting Hinata. They had each others phone numbers due to their first meeting with each other. Hinata was very persistent on getting the other boy's number.
"Kenmaa, are you texting your boyfrienddd?" Kuroo teased.
"No Kuroo, I'm not," Kenma rolled his eyes while he texted back.
Peaking over Kenma's shoulder, Kuroo cooed, "are too," and gave his stupid smirk.
"I am not," sighing, he put his phone away. The argument continued until they got into the gym that was holding all of the volleyball teams for a summer camp they started a few years back.
It's been a while since Kuroo and Bokuto had last seen each other and talk face to face, so Kuroo immediately walked over to the white haired boy to catch up. Kenma put is stuff over by the wall and sat down. He's never been good with big crowds. Feeling anxious, he brought his switch out to play some games. Normally, he would just use his phone, but he decided saving the battery might be a good idea in case anyone happens to text him.
"KENNMAAA!!"
Kenma jumped a bit hearing his name so loud. Due to him being on a boss level, his entire focus was on the game. Typically he would just ignore the nagging of his name until the person got bored and left, yet Kenma couldn't ignore the bright orange haired boy's voice. He wouldn't admit it, but no one could forget Hinata's voice. It was the type of loud that made you feel drunk on encouragement.
"Hey, Shoyo," Kenma smiled, shutting off his game and putting it in the small bag he had with him.
"I missed you, It's been forever! I think the last time I saw you was after we played each other?" Hinata rambled. Kenma could see Hinata thinking hard about the last time they would have seen each other.
"Yeah, it would have been," Kenma had a soft smile on his face and nodded at the boy to get him to stop feeling the need to think.
"Kenmmma, will you set to me?" the orange head pouted. "My team is taking foreverrr, pleasee?" Hinata begged. The way he held out his words made him sound close to the way Kuroo would speak to him when he was messing around. Kenma wasn't too keen on setting to people for practice since he was more the type to want people to be in awe during an actual game at him. As much as he would act like he didn't enjoy the other teams faces, he loved it. He loved being good at the things he did.
"Alright..." Kenma slowly got up and grabbed a volleyball to set to Hinata. He felt unsure of how this would go since hinata and kageyama were a star pairing. Kenma got into position, ready to set. His minimal movements were hard for Hinata to know when to jump and spike the ball, yet his clean set made it impossible for Hinata to miss the ball. He jumped and hit the ball with such force the ball smacked against the gym so loud. It sounded almost like a bomb. Though, with all of the noise in the gym, it was hard to hear unless you were those two.
"Nice job, Shoyo," Kenma said it so quietly he doubted anybody could have heard him.
"Kenma! That was amazi-" Hinata's sentence was cut off by the broad looking captain.
"Hinata, we need you here for practice, alright?!" Daichi yelled with his hands cupping is mouth for more volume. Hinata looked disappointed leaving, but it was hard to be disappointed when you loved the game so much. He waved good bye to Kenma, hoping they would get to talk more later on in the evening.
Kenma was walking back over to his bag until he was practically tackled. "HEY, HEY, HEY!" He heard Bokuto and Kuroo yell in an off-toned unison. Thanks to the voices being out of tune with one another, they laughed and someone pushed Kenma down somehow farther.
"Sooo Kenma... he isn't your boyfriend then?" Kuroo chirped in his annoying and condescending voice of his. Kenma mentally faced palmed knowing who was on his left side.
"WOAH WOAH hold the fuc-freaking phone here... Kenma--OUR baby Kenma--has a boyfriend?!" Bokuto looked shock and offended that no one told him this news.
"No Bokuto, I don't have a boyfriend! Hinata he's... well... a friend, I guess," Kenma looked down, happy knowing Hinata would consider him a friend. But... would it be bad if he was more?
"Bokuto, LOOK!" Kuroo pointed to a tall blond. "A CUTE BLOND GUY!" Kuroo smacked his hand over his heart
"Kuroo you've seen him before, and you said almost the same exact thing. This isn't new," Kenma said, deadpanning. Now bored of the two hanging onto him, he moved them off.
"Yes, Kenma," Kuroo said in a sassy way, "but now it's my chance!" and he put his his hands up.
"Kuroo, I have a plan," Bokutos eyes sparkled with a type of amusement in them. Smirking, the white headed boy said in a determined tone, "follow me."
Kuroo followed him, leaving Kenma behind to his own devices. He sat down going back to his game, knowing now how long this night will be.
