The following week you couldn't stop thinking about what you said to him. It felt like you'd crossed a line.
"Maybe I should apologize. I was impulsive. Everyone knows what kind of person he is. He's a captain too. I might get in trouble."
Why did life have to get so complicated?
Even on your mission your mind was preoccupied.
"I'll just apologize." It was decided. You didn't want to be thinking about this any longer. Sliding the door open to your room, you stepped out, only to run head first into something big and firm.
"What the-"
You lift your head, and Kenpachi is the last person you expect to see. Yachiru is firmly planted on top of his head.
"Zaraki-taicho? Why are you here?" He said nothing.
"Ken-chan feels bad so he came to apologize!" Yachiru says with a smile. He doesn't admit or deny the claim, and Yachiru jumps off his head and onto another building.
"I'm going to play, see you later Ken-chan, Spikey-chan!" She waves happily, taking off.
You would never understand these two. Despite the unprompted visit, at least you don't have to go looking.
"I wanted to apologize. It was disrespectful for me to talk to you the way I did. You're a superior. It won't happen again. " You bow.
Kenpachi just looks down at you, and when you're upright. It's a bit unsettling to be under his gaze. For some reason you prefer it when he's chasing you for a battle. At least then you can read him.
"You care about that shrimp."
You tilt your head.
"Shrimp...Oh, you mean Hanataro."
You rub your arm.
"Not particularly. I don't really know him, it's just that he..he bears a striking resemblance to someone I used to know. I guess in a weird way I'm protective."
"Guess I won't fight with him after all."
"W-WHAT YOU WERE GOING TO FIGHT HIM ARE YOU SERIOUS!!"
You're worked up, and Kenpachi smirks.
"I'll spare him if you fight me."
"Didn't you come here to apologize!!"
Kenpachi just turns.
"I'm looking forward to fighting you again."
"I never agreed to that!!"
You press your fingers between the bridge of your nose in agitation. It's like he heard the complete opposite of what you just said.
"What a nuisance."
Now you'll never get rid of him.
