Saylor's POV:

I take a once over of my outfit. Jeans that perfectly accentuate my thighs and ass, hoping they'll draw the attention of a certain hazel eyed individual with a tight long sleeve shirt to keep the early fall weather from being too much on my skin.

"Saylor! Let's go! Mom and dad are already there with the kids!" Sydni yells from downstairs.

I take a deep breath, trying to mentally prepare myself for tonight and all the people I might run into... one person that I am particularly dreading.

"She already told me about the party, I don't know why I need to be chauffeured there." I state as I walk down the stairs.

Sydni shrugs, "I don't know. She's your friend."

I follow Sydni out the door and into her car, my tolerance for this event already pretty low.

"How's it been staying with mom and dad?" Sydni asks to break the silence as she begins to drive.

"It's been one week." I say, sounding somewhat irritated.

"Geez, sorry for trying to talk to my baby sister." Sydni states in a joking tone.

I softly smile at her, "I'm sorry. I know, it's been alright. Uneventful and a little frustrating."

"Frustrating? How?" She asks.

"I don't know, I suppose that I'm just used to living on my own. Coming and going as I please and not having to tell someone when I'm going to be coming home. I'm an adult, but I don't feel like it." I explain.

"It's not like mom and dad are bad. I have a good situation worked out with them, I just wish I had more of my independence back." I state.

Sydni nods understandably, "well, the situation isn't for long. You'll have your own place soon enough and if you need a place, Cole's family does have that cabin that they aren't using any time soon. They all went back home for the year and won't be back around here until next summer if you absolutely need it."

"Seriously? You'd let me use it?" I ask, surprised.

"Well, I'd have to ask Cole, but I don't see why not. No one else uses it for nine months out of the year, you just have to be out by early may." She explains.

"I hope to have my own apartment come this winter, I just want to have a good amount in my savings to furnish the place." I explain.

"See, no problem. I'll talk to Cole tonight." She states.

I smile, feeling a bit better about leaving my room that reminds me so much of younger years.

I love my childhood room, but I'm starting to feel like a prisoner inside it. Seeing those pink walls and trophies that remind me of a person I left behind, also really making me question my decision making skills that I once had.

"Ready to do this thing?" Sydni asks as she puts her car in park.

"Not really." I admit as I look down at my hands in my lap.

"Hey, what's up? You've been tense since you moved home." Sydni states, placing her hand on top of mine to draw my attention over to her.

I sigh as I lean my head against the headrest,
"Hadley just seems to be a bit much."

"You're just realizing that Hadley is a bit much?" My sister asks with a slight laugh.

A smile forms on my lips, "no, she always is and every time I think I can just work through it... it's just a few days, but it's different this time. I don't just get to go to a different city and pretend that things are still okay after a few days. This time, I'm here... dealing with it everyday."
