Caitlin's POV

I'm celebrating my 25th birthday tomorrow. While I'm happy kasi I'd get to celebrate my birthday with my family and my teammates, parang di naman ako mukhang masaya but I guess it's natural since sino bang gustong tumanda diba? Ewan ko ba, parang may kulang?

What the hell, who am I kidding?

May kulang talaga kasi Bea won't be here to celebrate it with me. Nasa US kasi siya ngayon with her family. We still talk everyday, mostly sa chat na lang given the time difference but despite that, we still make an effort to facetime each other when we can (mostly her kasi antukin ako).

Natatawa na naaawa ako kapag naaalala ko yung ilang beses na bumabagsak na yung mga mata niya sa antok pero in her words, "No Cait, I won't sleep without seeing your face first and until I'm sure na I'm the first person you see in the morning".

Lagi ko siyang sinasabihan na temporary lang naman at 2 weeks lang naman siya sa US kaya okay lang if di muna kami araw araw magkausap pero she won't budge talaga. Pero deep inside, I'm thankful because I feel the same way.

Nasanay na kasi ako na magkikita kami sa training in the morning, have lunch together kasama ang mga thirdwheelers (Deanna, Thang Thang and Isa), grocery shopping kapag di kami tinamad pareho and we usually end the day watching some movie sa Netflix.

Now I'm currently at training, pero wala lang din akong silbi dito kasi parang palutang lutang lang din naman ang utak ko ngayon.

"Darling, anong nangyayari sayo? Kasama ka pa ba namin?" pang aasar sakin ni Thang.

"Wala darling, sorry may iniisip lang" sabi ko naman.

"Ay oo nga pala Darling! Birthday mo na bukas, saan mo kami ililibre, pwede bang sa Dampa ulit?" tanong ni Isa

Eto na naman, si Bea na naman pumasok sa isip ko. She loves seafood kaya lagi kaming dun kumakain. At gusto din nila Isa dun kasi palagi silang nakakalibre kapag kasama si Bea dahil siya din naman madalas na nag aaya dun.

"Eh wala naman tayong training bukas, the day after my birthday na lang. Pagtapos natin sa training, diretso tayo dun."

"Ayoko Darling, dapat kasama din ako sa mismong birthday mo! Hay nako, magtatampo na naman ako sayo nyan" pagmamaktol ni Deanna.

"Ito na naman si tampurista. Darling, halos araw araw naman tayo nagkikita at diba sabi mo, may movie date kayo that day ni adi mo? Sige ka, isusumbong kita sa kanya!" Sabi ko naman.

"Ay oo nga pala Darling, sorry hehe. Lagot ako kay adi, tagal niya na pala naplano yun. Sige sa susunod na araw na lang." nakangiting sambit ni Deanna

Sa wakas, natapos din ang topic sa birthday ko. Ayoko muna isipin kasi nalulungkot lang ako kapag naaalala ko. This was supposed to be my first birthday na makakasama ko si Bei as my official girlfriend pero her trip to the States was planned even before we became a couple kaya wala na talaga akong magagawa dun. Besides, she'll be home naman in a week so ayun na lang pampalubag loob ko sa sarili ko.

Now I'm already at home, preparing to go to sleep when I heard my phone ringing.

"Hi baby, what time is it na there?"

"Hey, bakit ang aga mo naman tumawag ngayon? Mag enjoy ka nga dyan, baka sabihin ni Tita Det, lagi kitang ginugulo. It's already 11:30pm here.

"Grabe ka, ayaw mo na ba ako kausap?" Pagpapacute niya sakin.

"Don't say that. Of course baby I want to, pero it's your only chance to spend time with your family sa States. After this, we'll be busy na ulit with training and sa upcoming PVL tournaments"

"This will be quick lang. 30 minutes lang. It makes me sad lang na I won't be there to celebrate with you so at least man lang, we can do birthday salubong"

"Ang conyo mo talaga, Bei."

"Stop, you love it deep inside kasi love mo ko."

"Ewan ko sayo, sige na nga. Hang up the call and let's do facetime instead." sabi ko sa kanya.

" Yayyy! Sabi ko na nga ba you won't be able to resist me kasi I'm so lakas when it comes to you"

"Okay big head, hang up na!" Nakangiting reply ko.

Now we're doing facetime. She's just telling me how she just had the best breakfast this morning while I tell her about our training today. It's so nice to be with someone who I can talk to even about the smallest things and it's a plus na rin that we have the same job so she understands my struggles and fears when it comes to our career. We got so caught up with our conversation and didn't notice it was already 12:35am.

Happy Birthday to me.

"Oops baby, it's past 12 na pala. Happy birthday, love! I thank God for you and I'm already counting the days until I finally see you again. Tulog ka na, I love you."

I'm already getting teary eyed so I want to end the call as soon as possible before I breakdown in front of her.

"Thank you, love. Same here, missing you everyday. Now enjoy your day, maximize your time there and see you in a week, okay? Goodnight to me and good morning to you dyan, mahal!"

I hang up and as I close my eyes to sleep, her face is the only one I see. I miss you Bei, see you in one week.

My birthday went so fast as I was so busy entertaining my guests. We had a small gathering together with my family and relatives and before I knew it, the day already went by.

As I was driving papunta sa training namin the next morning, I forgot to update Bea yesterday but I guess she was also tired since I also didn't get a call or message from her.

Bakit ang tahimik? Usually di pa ako nakakapasok sa court, maririnig ko na agad yung tawa ni Thang or ni Ate Che. But when I checked naman, on time naman ako. Not too nearly para mauna ako sa kanila but anyway, I just brushed it off. Baka nauna lang talaga ako.

"SURPRISE! Happy Birthday, Darling!" bati nilang lahat sa akin.

And there she is, standing in the middle with a huge bouquet of flowers in her hand.

"What the hell, Bei? Bakit ka andito, bat di ka nagsasabi sakin. You're supposed to leave US next week pa! " naiiyak na sabi ko.

"If I told you, then it wouldn't really be a surprise anymore, is it? Besides I wouldn't trade this for anything in the world. Tsaka magbabakasyon din naman sila sa Philippines in 3 months. Pwede bang mamiss ko birthday ng baby ko?

"Baliw ka talaga, halika nga dito!"

I took the flowers and hugger her tight. God I missed her.

I saw she already brought food for the whole team. All my favorites and mga favorite food din ng teammates namin and coaches.

"Kaya lumalaking spoiled yan sayo eh, ANG dami mo namang binili na food Bei! Parang pang isang linggo na natin to!" sabay turo ko sa mga teammates namin na super busy lumamon.

"Wag ka nga darling! Thank you Ate Bei, the best ka talaga! Magmahalan lang kayo para laging may paganito!" sambit ni Deanna habang inuupakan yung steak sa mesa.

Now I can say "Happy Birthday to me" and actually mean it.

"I love you Bei, thank you for always going above and beyond for me. Happiest birthday to me and sana ikaw pa rin ang kasama ko sa mga susunod na taon."

"Right back at you, babe." 💜
