The side if my nose twitches as I turn around slowly.

"Good morning, Young Master." The maid besides me says with an unfound respect.

I turn around, giving him an unnaturally wide smile. "Hello, brother!"

His face contorts in disgust, and while he has the gift of attractiveness as one of the male leads— yes he's a male lead— he looks awfully ugly.

"Don't utter such nonsense. Have you lost your mind?"

Zachary Raiyus. Leondra's genius brother and the sole inheritor of her father's title. Also one of the three male leads.

Even in the novel I disliked him. He fell for the kindness and naivety of Alana, the protagonist, and like the other two, he tried his hardest to help her with anything and everything. And as much as he loved the protagonist, he hated his evil sister who harassed her, and even before Alana appeared, he despised her and called her wicked. And then he and their father condemned her to death, neither lifting a finger to help her.

He hated his sister because of her possessiveness over her fiancé, the crown prince, who is—what a surprise— another male lead. But then he turned around and was just as possessive over Alana, showing blatant jealousy and anger when she received attention from others.

While it was obvious who Alana would ultimately end up with, Leondra's fiancé, Sylvian Arlay, it was still very satisfying to see Zachary get rejected and then told to basically fuck off by Alana's true love.

"Brother, what do you mean? Are we not born from the same man and woman?" I ask, my voice high, taunting him.

He sneers in response. "Honestly I'm not sure. It seems almost impossible for such a vulgar wench to be apart of this family."

My eyes loose the smile as I stare at him blankly. "Perhaps my horribleness is all just a result of my upbringing." I snicker. "I wonder where I managed to acquire all these vulgar traits as you said."

The maid beside me gasps as Zachary's face grows red with anger. "How dare you! You wicked woman!" He raises his hand up to strike me as I glare.

Why is this annoyance in my way? I was looking forward to spending some alone time outside. I keep my eyes locked on his as his hand flies down.

"What is going on in here?"

Zachary immediately withdraws his hand and turns to the voice.

"Father!"

I groan. What is even going on?

"Lord Raiyus." Without fail the maid turns and greets the Duke.

"Zachary, have I not told you to control your temper? You must always keep sound judgement."

I keep myself from chuckling at the lecture and also at the Duke's b.s.

Sound judgement..? Is he for real?

"But Father-" Zachary tries to protest.

"Enough."

"And you." The Duke with blonde hair—like Zachary's— and pale golden eyes turns to me, disapproval evident. "Do you realize that you throw a fit each and every day without fail?"

"Father, I believe Zachary has misunderstood my intentions. As you say, and as my reputation proves, I cause disturbances. Zachary here saw me walk down the hallway and decided to jump in and stop me from making a problem before I could even think of a problem to make! I'm sorry for fooling you, brother. I was only hoping to enjoy a peaceful walk outside." I grin at Zachary while the Duke is not watching, causing him to fume.

I look back at the Duke, seeing his reluctance to believe me. "Please ask the kind maid accompanying me if you doubt my words." I smile warmly at the maid.

"Well?" The Duke stares at her, expectantly.

Flushed and confused from my smile, the maid stutters a response. "Y-Yes, Lord Raiyus. The young miss asked us to prepare her for an outside stroll just a while ago."

I nod at her, extremely relieved she didn't lie, knowing full well she, along with everyone else in this place, do not favor me.

"Alright. Go on." The Duke looks at me again, still untrusting, but accepting it. He walks away, Zachary looking at me in complete shock.

"I'll be taking my leave now, brother." I smile. "May I advise that next time assure there is a cause to your actions?" I turn to the maid and nod, signaling I am ready to be lead outside again.
