We depart for Chicago at 5:00 A.M. the next morning. I roll down the windows and blast music as we drive.
"Welcome back to Chicago, Stefan," Klaus says as we drive into an old storage facility.
Klaus opens his car door and I follow his lead, getting out on my side. "What are we doing here?" Stefan queries as he steps out of the car as well.
"You used to love it here," Nik states. I roll my eyes at the boring conversation happening between dumb and dumber. "The good old ripper days," Klaus further emphasizes.
Stefan plants his hands on his hips as we watch a truck pull toward us. "I blacked out for most of it, all I remember are the parties and the blood."
"Shame, the details are what makes the legend," Nik informs and begins to tell a story of what Stefan was like back in the 1920s.
I'm lying on the floor staring at the ceiling for most of this and I put in my headphones a few seconds into the tale.

Early in the morning the following day, I change into a black top and pants and a denim overshirt. We head to a bar named Gloria's. "Looks familiar, doesn't it?" Klaus asks the young vamp.
"I'm surprised the place is still here," Stefan responds.
"You have got to be kidding me," a beautiful black woman with short white hair walks into the main bar area.
Nik steps forward. "A hybrid walks into a bar, asks the bartender-"
"Try as hard as you might, you still aren't funny, dumbass," I comment, ruffling his hair. He reaches up, trying to fix it.
"Stefan, Lilith, why don't you two fix us a few drinks from the bar?" I groan, but Stefan drags me to the bar.
I zone out until I hear Rebekah's name. I perk up instantly, listening to Klaus and Gloria's conversation. "She has what I need, bring her to me," Gloria instructs.
I zone back out, thinking about my best friend until I hear the words "Let's go," from Nik.
