Mirella's eyes found mine in the darkness. They shined with tears as she trembled. "We can't stay here," she said, glancing at the door. "W-We have to find Garridan and Luca."

"Do you think she'll really be back?" I asked with wide eyes as I glanced at the window before turning back to Mirella.

Her skin paled and I was able to see her features clearly in the darkness. "Eva doesn't make promises she doesn't keep."

I glanced at the broken window. Mirella was right. We couldn't stay there. We had to find somewhere safe. "We keep the guns, right?" I asked gripping it tighter. No matter what she said, I wouldn't leave without it.

"Have you transitioned?" She asked, raising her brow as her gaze swept over me. It was obvious she knew I hadn't.

I shook my head. "No," I whispered, shifting on my feet.

"Then, we keep the guns," she said, raising her chin as she forced away her fear. "And we use them. I may have once been at the top of Eva's revenge list but I think you may have taken my place. Worse, you made her more angry than I did. I insulted her. You shot her. So, if you see her, don't hesitate to kill her."

I gripped the gun tighter against me. Eva had ordered Mirella's rape for an insult, I didn't want to imagine what she would do to me. Mirella stared at me. Her face showed the lines of stress around her eyes.

I took a deep breath calming myself. "It's okay, Mirella," I said and took a step closer to her. "I'll be with you. I promise."

She raised her chin meeting my eyes before she straightened. "I know," she whispered. "Are you ready to go?"

I nodded glancing around one more time. "Where are we going?" I asked, frowning.

She narrowed her eyes as she thought. "Garridan's home," she said. "If Luca and Garridan come back they will look for us there. Also, Andre should be here soon and when he finds us gone, he will look there first.'

"Okay," I said and took a deep breath. "Let's go."

As we opened the door a sliver of lightning split the sky hitting a table near the bonfire pit and catching it on fire. The light blinded me for a moment but when my vision cleared, I realized wolves were emerging from the forest and the only thing we could do was run until we were safe again.

The rain and hail pounded us stinging our skin as we ran toward Garridan's home. Our breaths pushed from us as we made our way between empty motorhomes, finally reaching the doorway. Mirella pulled a key from her pocket and shoved it in the lock before opening the door and stepping inside. I moved to follow her but a growl sounded behind me.

I gripped the gun as I turned ready to aim and shoot but as I did another wolf attacked bringing it to the ground. This wolf's silver eyes met mine as I raised the gun trying to guess if he was one of our family or not but the rain was washing away his scent.

"It's Garridan," Mirella said with wide eyes before stepping beside me and putting her hand over mine causing me to lower the gun. "Don't shoot!"

She gripped my wrist and pulled me inside the home. She gave one final glance at Garridan and slammed the door before turning the lock. The wolves' growl echoed through the door and I backed away as Mirella reached to turn on the light.

"Don't. the Grey Wolves will see the light and come for us," I said, and she nodded as she backed away from the door.

"If they get close enough they may sense us in here anyway," she said, frowning. "I hope they will think that it is our scent left behind from living here."
