Chapter 1

Zaiden's life has been a pretty normal one. She lived in a rural town in North Carolina, went to high school, Had some friends and a boyfriend. She couldn't help but feel out of place in her conservative town. Everyone looked the same and if you didn't you were shunned out to the reality of everything. Zaiden tried to be one of those girls that dyed their hair blonde and wore dresses with flowers on it but after realizing that no matter what she did morally it didn't feel right. That's when she started dying her hair all types of colors, traded the flower dresses for baggy pants, and lived a not so sober life. Zaiden's boyfriend introduced her to weed and ever since she was never sober. She enjoyed the internal peace she got when her lips hit the earthy wrap. Her parents where concerned and tried bringing it up to Zaiden but the end would always end the same, "We just care about you blah blah blah". 

Zaiden has always had a close relationship with music, almost as much as weed. It caused her to focus and listen to every word, every melody. She picked up guitar and drums when she was only thirteen, and being 18 she was pretty good. Music was her outlet from the outside world. She soon began writing songs just for fun, but with encouragement from her friends and her boyfriend she soon began uploading herself singing the songs and posting them on soundcloud under a secret account. They never got much views but she was okay with that. She was still going to school and worked a job part time at a local library.   

At school Zaiden stuck to herself, all her friends and boyfriend lived in the town over from her. She would just put in her headphones and keep her head down during classes. She wasn't exactly the best student, most of the time she was high and would sleep during class. Her boyfriend CJ was known as the skateboarder who was always strung out on any substance he could get. They met from Zaiden's friends, and just being at a park when they all said hi. Zaiden loved CJ but  always felt lonely. They never saw each other and when they do it was almost like everything was on repeat. Say hi, talk, then sleep together.  She didn't feel used but she definitely didn't feel wanted either. Zaiden wanted to communicate these issues with CJ but didn't know how to. You can't just say hey I need more of you and not when your dick is inside of me way. So instead of voicing her issues she would write it down, turning it into songs. Those same songs getting uploaded onto soundcloud. She would show CJ some of them but he would go over the fact they were all about him in some type of way. 

Zaiden was pretty well known in the town over, But more so for going to parties and doing whatever there. If that was alcohol or drugs it didn't matter, she needed an escape from her feelings other then music. One night one of her friends picked her up and they went to a party about thirty minutes away. On their way there Shay the friend that had been driving, was talking about this guy and how he made her feel like the only girl in the world and that he is the one, all that bullshit. That made Zaiden realize she didn't feel that way about CJ. He would use most his free time skating and miss their nightly facetimes due to the fact that he would be skating till the early morning. She never suspected anything and supported him through his skating journey because she knew that's what he wanted to do with his life. But she couldn't help but feel like often times skating was his number one and she wasn't. She made a promise to herself that night to put music as her number one. That's what she wanted and it made her happy.

She kept her word on that promise, she would put all her heart into creating new songs or covering songs to post on soundcloud. She started posting more and more content making her videos get more views. It wasn't until she had graduated high school that one of her original songs blew up on soundcloud. It had gotten over 10k listens overnight and kept growing throughout the week. Soon it was everywhere, she would go on tiktok and the song was an audio to some ones video. This made her think if she really wanted her song to go viral. She was just a girl from a small town in North Carolina. 

After about a week into the song going viral on tiktok and soundcloud, people were dying for it to come out onto more streaming platforms. With this came emails from record labels asking Zaiden if she would want to sign with them, and offering generous amounts of money to her for a album coming from their label. This would force her to uncover her identity, and not be the so secretive singer that would sing in a dark room with her guitar. She thought long and hard about the decision but decided to get out of this town she had to. 

She signed with Indie Records soon after. The deal was to fly out too LA and just get a feel of the recording studio, do a couple interviews and announce the date that the song would come out. She didn't tell anyone she was going to LA, or even that she was the voice behind the song.
