"Wars, Deaths, Families torn apart over unnecessary battle. Why is it that we are the only ones affected by this whilst they continually strive. When shall this end? If not now when?" Elicia questions yet again but to no prevail she is shut down once more.
"Elicia, you are to silence at once. We've heard enough of your childish fantasies to last an eternity. You know that we can't suddenly stop this war. We are but a worm in comparison to this battle. Millions have laid down their lives all for you thirteen years later to demand a stop. I will not hear it again. I've told you one too many times now. Now scurry away to your headquarters" Madam Berkwood says growing in agony due to constant repetition of those same words time and time again. She was indeed a good mother who never failed to show her children love but there was no denying the annoyance that her Elicia brought.
"But mother, I have yet to finish telling you of my plan to end this war and bring peace to the families damaged by it. Is it so wrong to wish for the soldiers who laid their lives down- as you said- to finally rest in their graves rather than to have died in vain? They simply wished to protect their beloved families but decades have passed and more continue to die."
"Elicia, stop this at once! Your father and brothers are due at any moment. So, for the love of me I beg of you to leave to your headquarters before I have you sent away"
"But- Mother-"
"GUARDS! Please accompany my daughter on her wild voyage across the halls to her room." Madam Berkwood said cutting Elicia off before she had wasted any more time.
The guards did as told gently approaching the still shouting Elicia. There was no real point to her causing a scene as everyone in the room had seen similar actions of hers prior to this. Besides no one really cared for her stunts. With the exception of Henry that is.
Henry O'Ryan was the name of the maid's child. He spent most of his days wandering around the castle until he finally came in contact with the golden gem of the castle. The pair grew to be great friends until eventually Henry too became one of the many workers in the castle. He served as a guard but truth be told he was much more of a loyal companion to Elicia than a guard.
The moment Elicia exited the main throne room where her mother had just recently kicked her out of Henry was right by her side.
"Nice of you to show up." Elicia mocked rolling her eyes.
"Hey, me and you lack the same protection. You are this fancy princess while I just work here. Forgive me for looking out for myself." Henry joked sarcastically.
Sarcastic or not Elicia did not appreciate the tone hence she did as a princess did best... or at least what this princess did best. She pushed Henry into a bush.
"Dearest Henry, whatever must it be to have caused such a wreckage? You must be more careful where you walk." Elicia said sounding oddly like her mother. Sure, the pair were related by blood but that didn't change Elicia's teenage slang. Elicia personally adored her slang along however Henry on the other hand wasn't necessarily finding this amusing.
Henry dusted off his now dirty clothing as he rushed to open the door to Elicia's room before Patrick could. Patrick was the name of the other guard... also known as the more responsible one who actually cared for his job and his title. However that didn't stop Henry from attempting to compete for the title of "better" guard. Truth is the title wasn't even a real title besides there were far too many guards in the castle to compete with for such an award.
Elicia walked into the room followed by a smirking Henry brushing off Patrick by motioning his hands and sticking out his tongue.
Henry turned around only to see a pacing Elicia circling the room as though she had left her most valuable jewels somewhere.
"So, I take it the talk didn't go so well?" Henry questioned now gaining her attention. However, that lasted for about a moment until her pacing continued. "Elicia?"
That seemed to have gained her attention once more as she sat on the end of her bed before finally answering "Henry, you should've seen the disappointment on her face. It was as though she was finally tired of my constant babbling. Sure she has heard it all before but that is only because she still hasn't taken it into consideration. What wrong is it to ask for a treaty to end this feud between those... beasts and us" Said Elicia in a particularly disgusted laced tone.
"Well, Elicia you couldn't be certain that they are all evil... now can you?"
"Of course they are. I've seen one. The dreaded beast attempted to attack me. I was no more than a little girl playing in the garden."
"Well... Are you sure he was trying to hurt you?"
"He?" Elicia questioned for just a moment before rambling off yet again "Well I obviously couldn't be certain but what else purpose would a beast have to enter human territory much less castle grounds?"
"I don't know." Henry mumbled under his breath before storming out of the room. Something was wrong and Elicia knew it but she chose not to care. She did have empathy for him but she was raised to not speak of problems. It hadn't been the first time for him to react in such a way but whenever she asked he refused to speak and claimed it was nothing serious. She simply wished to respect his boundaries.
~~~~Author's Note~~~~
Hello my darlings!!!
So here is a little context to the way this story is going to work out and how the chapters work. So, for the first chapter it is written in a third person point of view but I don't plan on keeping that theme. In the following chapters it will be in first person point of view as I actually prefer to write in such a way. I originally chose to write in third person as it leaves no real area for thoughts so in the next chapters you guys and gals get to break down who Elicia really is and the story behind of it. Also I really am sorry that she is a bit... mean here. It s going to be broken down in the later chapters so just look out for that.
