"Natalia?" I hear the relief in Nash's voice when he says my name.
"Sorry for making you worry," I tell him and I can picture him shaking his head in response.
"Don't apologize, you don't know how fucking relieved I am to hear your voice," he answers. "Hold on a second while I get Jason." I hear the sound of him walking away from where he is and a knock on a door before Jason's voice comes through the line.
"Natalia, what's your status right now?" Jason asks getting straight to the point.
"Hey Chief, I managed to get away from where Felix left me and I'm on my way to arrest him," I tell him. "There was another warehouse we didn't know about that's currently burning away hopefully what is the remaining amount of drug."
"Burning away? They set it on fire?" he asks in a sharp voice.
"Yeah and they tried to burn it away along with me in it," I say, my voice muttering the last part but I know the two of them pick up that last detail.
"What do you mean along with you in it?" Nash asks echoing my last words.
"Felix in his words said he was taking a page from the woman who set fire to Vcitoria's hospital room," I say quoting his earlier words to the two of them. The phone is silent for a moment and I know that there are dark expressions on their faces.
"Anything else to report," Jason questions, anger clear in his tone.
"I'll need medical, not in good shape right now and Felix will definitely need medical after I'm done with him," I say to him. "Let me send you the address for the warehouse and where I'm heading. At the warehouse I left a man there who was helping Felix, I doubt he'll be leaving so he should still be there."
As an officer the last thing I should be doing is texting and driving but right now I don't have much choice. Luckily for me there aren't many cars on the highway right now so I slow down a bit as I quickly type both addresses to Nash.
"I'm going to send back up your way right now," Jason tells me. "Depending on how fast you drive you might arrive before them, there's no precinct nearby there."
"I'll get there as fast as I can and see what I can do, my busted leg has gone through enough tonight," I tell them.
"Busted leg?" Nash questions in concern.
"I had to get out of the warehouse somehow and running through fire was my last plan," I say evasively.
"You're deflecting Natalia," he scolds.
"It's a long story among other things and also why medical needs to be sent," I reply, deflecting his question. I don't want to worry him more since we still have a job to finish. "Where's Jade?"
"Jade is with her teacher, you already talked with them about this possibly happening so they were prepared. All of them are worried about you," he adds.
"A hit was already put out for me so what was stopping them from trying to kidnap me if it didn't work out? I'm not surprised though they were alarmed when I brought it up," I say to him. I hear rustling noises in the background before hearing the sound of a car engine. "Where are you going?"
"You didn't think we wouldn't be coming out to you did you?" Jason asks. "They already fucked up when they started this shit but they fucked up even more when they took one of our own. A quarter of the precinct is heading out." A warm feeling passes through me when I hear that.
"Drive carefully Natalia, we'll see you soon," Nash tells me.
"You too," I reply before hanging up and tossing the phone back onto the passenger seat. I continue to drive for another twenty minutes before exiting the highway and the area I'm in now really shows how far out they are from civilization. By the time I reach where the man is supposed to meet Felix, it's obvious to see that the houses here are very spaced from one another and that a person wouldn't know what their neighbour is doing.
