AVRIELLE

"OH, YOU'RE EARNING HOURS TODAY?" MY CLASSMATE asked and I nodded while fixing my uniform. It was another day in flying school. I was happy about being a lady pilor! Nag-i-carn na ako ng hours ko so I could upgrade my license.

I would fly with my instructor after classes and then I would attend my figure skating training. I was focusing on two things at the same time. That was my daily routine.

Actually, I wanted to do a lot of things, I was interested in different fields because I grew up watching the people around me work in different areas. Mayroong lawyer, architect, singer, engineer, model, flight attendant, pilot, et cetera. Naguluhan na rin ako sa gusto ko but I really wanted to be a pilot because it looked interesting.

Right after I smoothly landed, I went out of the plane and removed my hair tie, causing my long wavy hair to fall over my shoulders. It was windy kaya hinangin kaagad iyon palikod habang may tinitingnan akong chart. It was also hot outside so I was wearing shades, along with my uniform.

"Juarez, are you going now?" my instructor asked.

"Yes, Sir," sagot ko pagkabalik ng charts. He wanted to send his regards to my dad so I just said okay.

Sinusubukan nilang lahat na magpa-good shot kina Daddy at Tito Haze. I actually did not want to study here in FlyAsia College of Aeronautics or FCOA, but it was the best, if not one of the best flying schools in the Philippines.

"This is for you!"

"Thank you."

"Thank you. But I have training." I changed my clothes in my condo before I went to the nearest center with an ice-skating rink.

"Have you thought of what you'd perform?" tanong ng trainer ko. "Yes po," sagot ko pagtapak sa rink. She wanted me to show what I came up with.

I did different stunts like the toe loop, the salchow, lutz, and axel. I felt the music in me, but I was also nervous because I needed to do my stunts well. I thought of my stunts a lot since they were the most important for me to win.

Although I messed up the second axel a bit, I did another spin to make up for it before I finished with my hand on my neck and the other on my waist

"It will be better if you can manage to pull off all those stunts you did effortlessly. That will really give you an advantage in the competition," sabi ng trainer ko

"I'm sorry. I'll do it better," sabi ko habang nag-ii-skate sa rink. She also joined me and asked me to practice more.

We trained together before I was dismissed.
I got my mom's skin kaya ganito.

"I hope you did not get into trouble..."

"Ate!" masayang bungad niya sa akin. "Swimming is so fun! You should come with me next time!"

"You really love water, huh?" I asked, smiling. Just hearing the voice of my younger brothers made me happy. For Lai, he was so young and innocent. It was funny.

"And you love ice!" sagot ni Lai. "Yes, I love ice. I love the sky, too," sabi ko.

I already won the national level last year, which made my name
famous in the sport.

"How about you? Do you love the sky, too?" tanong ko sa kapatid ko habang naglalakad papunta sa parking.

"Hmm... I love water!" simpleng sagot niya. "Can't I love many things?" "Of course, you can," sagot ko.

"Then I love the sky... but not as much as I love water! Water is fun! Sky is scary!" Nahimigan ko ang takot sa boses niya.

Lai had a fear of flying kaya hirap sina Mommy na umalis ng bansa kasama
siya. He would shake with fear tuwing may flight.

"Will it still scare you if I'm the one driving?" nakangiting tanong ko. "Hmm..." Nag-isip siya. "Of course not! It's you, Ate! If it's you, I'm not scared anymore!"

I stared at the sky and smiled to myself.

"Then I'll do my best."
