* lyra's pov : *

I layed on my bed in my dark green pajamas, scrolling on Instagram when I saw a comment for a random groupchat. I instantly dmed the guy and joined it because it was summer break and I thought new friends can't hurt right? Everyone in the group chat was cool and very chill with each other like you could say whatever you want and it won't be taken seriously. That place quickly became my safe haven, one thing about online friends was that I could trust them with secrets about myself ( no not like financial information) because I didn't have to worry about them meeting my parents. Don't get me wrong here, I love my parents but they can't ever know about my secret, because I, myself, am ashamed of it.

My eye caught a user there - Lost.in.my.own.world_iiidk  (this is a made up profile, not real)

Lost.in.my.own.world_iiidk : heyyyy, omg you're so cuteee.

I had a few posts so I guess that's how she saw my face

Me : ohh please, i'm pretty certain you're more cute, cutie

I replied in a way that made me cringe to the core but who cares.

Lost.in.my.own.world_iiidk : but you haven't even seen my face, cutie

Me : idc, I can already tell ;) cutie

Me : proof?

Another member of the groupchat said to us, one of the admins, so I shifted to dms

Me : hey babe ;)

Lost.in.my.own.world_iiidk : isn't it too early for that?

Me : nope never

Me : trust me, you don't know the half of it, atleast tell me your name, I'm Lyra

Lost.in.my.own.world_iiidk : hey Lyra, Im not telling you my name but its nice to talk to you.

Me : oh the pleasures all mine
I said in a cheesy way

Lost.in.my.own.world_iiidk : ughh well I have to help my mum finish with the boxes, we just shifted here from another state. So I'll talk to you later cutie

Me : oh that's cool, why'd you shift and where?

Lost.in.my.own.world_iiidk : well, my mum finally divorced my dad, he would rarely ever come home and my mum was living on her own anyway so she filed a divorce and we shifted for a new start. And I'm not telling you where  ;).

Me : oh, I'm so sorry to hear that

Lost.in.my.own.world_iiidk : it's okay, guess I should go now, bye Lyra, goodnight

Me : bye unknown person, Goodnight;).

With that I signed off and went to bed smiling, this was the first time in quite a while that I slept on a reasonable time and actually happy while going to bed.

I sighed and remembered that my summer break would end soon in a week and id have to go back to school being that terrible fake person, who's act I would put on every single time.

I woke up the next morning, went to my washroom, had a quick shower and washed my hair with my favourite strawberry shampoo. I brushed my teeth quickly and put on a black tanktop with blue jeans, put on my rings and a beanie, then headed downstairs for breakfast.

"Good morning Lyr, do you want some breakfast? I made omlet and toast." My mum said standing in the kitchen as she saw me walking down the stairs with a smile on her face

"Oh yeah sure, uhh where's dad by the way? " I asked as I took a plate from her hand and sat down at the table

"Oh hun, he had work early this morning so he left early, I'll also be going after you head over to your friend's house" She said sitting down with me and we both started eating our breakfast. Both my parents were working, my father worked in a  law firm and my mother was a designer in a styling company near our house.

I finished my food and saw my mum had finished as well so I took the plates from her hand and walked over to the sink and put the dishes there.

"I'm heading out to Sarah's right now, bye mum. " I said picking up my phone and walking to the door to open it.

"Okay Lyra, tell her I said hi. "

"Will do!" I shouted and walked outside, closing the door behind me and walked over to Sarah's house, she lived about 15 minutes far and I though it'd be a good morning walk.

I rang the door bell as soon as I reached just for Mrs. Harrison to open the door, her name was Aliza, she was Sarah's mum and a sweet lady. She could never learn our names however and had code words with which she would refer to us as. I was the one who made the food...

"Hello, Lyra, Sarah's upstairs with Danielle and Rosie, they're waiting for you. " She said to me with a smile and stepped aside to let me walk inside

I muttered a quick "Thank you" And went up the stairs to her bedroom.
I knocked on the door and saw Danielle opening the door for me, I walked in and sat down with everyone else.

"Hey guys, whatchya all talking about?"

"Nothing really we were waiting for you" Rosie said to me.

"Yeah yeah, well guess what, I have news for you" All the girls shot me up with continuous 'what?'s .
"I was talking to this random stranger online yesterday and I think I like her."

"Her?, finally you have a crush on a girl, I though you were bisexual for nothing. " Rosie said to me

I smacked her on the arm and hissed "Hey!! You can't tell anyone!"

"We know and we won't, your secret is safe you know that. But wait if it's an online stranger how do you know you like her? what's her name? Where does she live? " Danielle asked.

"Woah there, calm down with the questions, umm I don't really know how she looks like or what her name is or where she lives... " I trailed off

"Oh but you know you like her?" Rosie said sassily.

"Ros, I just I don't know, I feel it by her texts, it's just a silly little crush, it'll probably just fade away in a while. "

" Oh yeah sure 'feel it by her texts' " Rosie said again.

I hit her again on the back of her head but this time more harshly. "Ow, what'd you do that for? " She asked with a tiny laugh. "You know I could kill you if I wanted. " And she was right, rose was the strength of the group. She was really powerful, like really powerful.

"You deserved it" I said and  laughed it off with the others.

"Oi, you two stop fighting, let's go, we'll be late for our movie and we have to go eat at that cafe that just opened up after it, let's go, let's go, let's go. " Danielle said to us, she was very excited, I was starting to think too excited.

"Yes, Dani, we're going, have patience" Sarah said standing up from the bed as Danielle shouted 'nope' from down the stairs, she already started without us.

"Danielle, wait up" I yelled and rushed downstairs with the three others.
