The note carved into the body's back was the first thing she noticed, and she would never forget the site of blood pooling out of the words that described her brother, words that made so much more sense now.

Eva loved her brother just as he loved her, but he might have loved her too much. Finn was his name.

They had to live together for money reasons, and he was out of the house most of the time. Eva cared for her brother a lot and was always worried whenever he came home with bags under his eyes, his clothes torn and bloodied.

"Did you get into a fight again?" Eva asked her brother one night while she was cleaning the dishes.

"Not to worry sis, I am fine." He smiled, placing his tattered gray hat on the counter and taking off his matching gray dress coat.

This answer never seemed to please Eva, but she never pressed the point.

Finn was Eva's older brother, but they only had their appearances in common. Eva had very clean long black hair, tied into a neat ponytail that trailed down to her waist. Finn had black hair, but his was cut to his shoulders very messily, and was rarely washed. Both of them had cool black eyes, but Eva's left eye was half red. Eva's pale skin was still soft and well taken care of, while Finn generally came across as deathly pale.

"Dinner will be ready in an hour, please clean yourself up before then." Eva said, turning back to her sponge and plate.

Finn simply nodded and went to his room. Once he got there he tossed his briefcase onto his bed and taking off his black tie.

"Damned idiots. Barely able to handle one person!" He grumbled. You see, Finn works for someone he's never even met. He takes orders from them and does anything they ask, for each task he completes, he gets paid. There are a lot of assignments he would rather not do, but if he doesn't do it they'll stop paying him altogether. Not to mention this is his last straw, if he gets fired Eva said he'd work at home, and she'd find a job.

Can't let that happen. I have to protect her. Finn is very overprotective of his sister and he desperately wants to protect her from the real world. Keeping her in the house was the only way to do this.

He pulled apart the top two buttons of his shirt, then sat down on his bed.

Lately, the jobs have been getting more and more unreasonable.

Yesterday he had to kidnap a mother and her child, then take them to one of his coworkers with no clue what was going to happen to them, and just today he had to hitchhike with this man, only to kill him halfway through the drive.

He hated these jobs, but not working meant no money, and the threat of losing his sister. For whatever reason his boss wanted his sister, and if he stopped working and they spotted her, according to their 'contract' they have every right to take her.

It's all for her. It's all for Eva. I have to protect Eva. He thought.

"Finn! I don't hear the shower running!" Eva yelled from down the hall.

"Sorry, I'll get in in a minute." Finn yelled.

"It's been getting worse Finn, I can't trust that you're not being hurt when you go out." Eva insisted, stuffing another forkful of chicken alfredo into her mouth.

"This is amazing!" Finn said, trying to change the subject and taking another bite.

Eva put her fork down and sighed.

"You can't keep on going like this."

"Really, this is much better than any other time you've made it." Finn said, voice shaky. His sister sure could be scary, but that's why he loved her. Because she she could take care of herself, she was strong, smart, well mannered-
