The book delves into the life of Carter Mekhi, a remarkably handsome and influential businessman who, as stated in the book's description, has already met his tragic end. It falls under the category of stories set in the past, aiming to unravel the events leading to his murder and shed light on the motive behind it.
For a man of his calibre it's easy for him to have enemies, especially with the decisions he makes throughout the course of the book. This story overall takes us through his marriage, fatherhood, street dealings, past experiences and most importantly, his double life.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book's captivating narrative and Shermaine's exceptional storytelling skills. The seamless flow of the story greatly appealed to me. Also, I love that the characters are written so well that the audience will have their own favourites and not always agree on which characters they like and dislike.
Among all the characters, Carter has emerged as a personal favorite of mine in the realm of urban fiction. While opinions may vary after reading, the in-depth exploration of his persona contributes to his status as a brilliantly developed character. Whether one loves or despises him, he remains a testament to skilled writing. Also the plot twist at the end of the book is absolutely insane!
I found myself re-reading this book recently and reading it felt like being at the premiere of a good movie you're certain you'll watch again.
This book is definitely a must-read for everyone who loves urban fiction.
