According to some proxies in the subliminal community I met a while back; training can last a few months to even a few years. Generally, though, it's 6-12 months long.
Training involves borderline torture. You go at least a month without eating, you have to spend 2 months in the dark. They also mentioned something called "The Wire", and you basically have wires around your neck that electrocute you.
If you pass all that, at the end you have to fight another proxy as your final challenge.
Only around 1 in every 70 people survive proxy training. (Unless you use subliminals, it makes your chances higher).
