Sprinting through the open field, in the midst of a foggy, mountainous region, Jason could feel his body starting to go numb. The exhaustion was setting in, and it feels as if he's been running for an eternity. Beads of sweat ran down his face, and his clothes were torn and covered in blood and dirt. All Jason could think about is how he's been here before, but the adrenaline and fatigue made it hard for him to recall why he remembers this place. He suddenly tripped and stumbled, before falling over. Jason hit the ground, landing in a soft patch of grass, and the only thing he could think about was how nice it felt. He eventually mustered enough strength to push himself up onto his knees, and then he heard a monstrous roar. This roar caused a quake, which shook the ground beneath him. Jason looked in the direction he thought the roar came from, and saw a large claw emerge from the fog and crush a mountain. Suddenly, before Jason had any time to react or process his thoughts, the world around him began to shift. Twin moons rose, as day became night, and the night sky filled itself with stars. The fog dissipated, and the mountains retracted into the very land they once protruded from. The ground under Jason changed, as well, and he now stood on top of clouds, which drew near to the two moons. During this process, Jason was fitted with new clothes, and any sweat, dirt, or blood disappeared from his body, while his injuries and wounds were healed. He could feel the fatigue subside as his strength returned.
"Jason," a voice called out.
Jason turned in the direction the voice came from, and was met by a great white dragon that stood at the forefront of the twin moons.
"Do you remember me, Jason?" The dragon asked.
A flood of memories washed over Jason's mind, and he took a moment to recollect them.
"I... I do. You are Valkoiniin, right?" Jason replied.
"Yes, I am Valkoiniin, the Dragon King," the dragon boastfully said.
"How long has it been since our first encounter?" Jason asked.
"Three years," Valkoiniin replied.
"Things must've changed pretty quickly because, if I'm remembering correctly, you told me we would only meet again under certain circumstances. You also promised to tell me everything the next time we met," Jason adamantly said.
"You are correct on both accounts. I will start at the beginning." Valkoiniin replied.
"Long ago, before time began, three all-powerful entities existed. You have come to know two of them as God and the Devil with the third being myself. God and the Devil, despite what some modern religions may tell you, were brothers once. Together, they created all things as you know them. However, differing ideologies would eventually drive them apart. The Devil would leave his brother, and create his own realm, Hell, to rule over. This would be the start of a power struggle that would last millennia, and the cause for my intervention. You see, the universe, along with everything in it, is greatly affected by the actions of these two. They've already been the cause for one Great War, which resulted in countless losses on either side, and nearly destroyed existence as you know it. Thus, I have tasked myself with being the mediator between them, and for centuries I have bestowed my power upon one I believe will be worthy of it. They are to be my sword, and carry out my will of keeping the peace between God and the Devil. I do this for the good of the universe, and everything that dwells within it. Jason, inside of you resides two souls. One of a human, and the other of a dragon. You are my chosen one."
Jason looked towards the starry sky, and soaked in the information that he was just told, before eventually returning his focus to Valkoiniin.
"So what's changed? Because three years ago, when we had our first encounter, you told me that a day was coming where I would be required to harness the power that lies within me in order to prevent total annihilation."
"I did, and that is why I have come to you. The time for you to use the power I have bestowed unto you, and become my sword, is now. You see, God and the Devil have servants, which you know of as Angels and Demons. Over time, especially after the Great War, a number of Angels and Demons have stepped away and left their masters. These Angels and Demons, that have become known as the Fallen, formed their own faction. This faction wishes to rival their former masters and eradicate them, no matter the cost. We are on the brink of another Great War, and I do not believe the universe can survive this one unless you and I intervene," Valkoiniin replied.
Jason let out a sigh as he pondered his thoughts.
"What if we do succeed? How does this end? You use me and then toss me to the side, like week old trash?" Jason asked.
"No, Jason. As long as you remain loyal to me, then I will remain loyal to you. With my power, you will be granted abilities and opportunities that a person could only dream of. Remember, I chose you, and I have no intentions of forsaking you. I promise, this arrangement is more beneficial to you than it is to me, because regardless of the outcome, I will still be here," Valkoiniin replied.
Jason nodded his head, and looked Valkoiniin in the eyes.
"I accept. I will be your sword," Jason declared.
Following Jason's declaration, the great white dragon spread it's wings, and let out a roar. The roar caused the realm to tremble, and Jason was engulfed by a white light.
"Arise, my Dragon Prince!" Valkoiniin shouted.
The light dispelled, and Jason, now wearing a suit of armor, stood before Valkoiniin.
"Jason, this is your dragon armor. Through this you will channel your true power. However, despite your good physical condition, you will still need to train in order to improve and sustain it. Also, be aware that you will struggle to summon the armor at first. What you're experiencing now is merely a taste, which I have granted to you, so that you may start to understand the kind of power you hold."
Jason took a moment to examine the armor, before returning his gaze to Valkoiniin.
"I understand."
"So, where do we start?" Jason asked.
"For now, I wish for you to begin training. Learn how to properly control and utilize your power within your own world," Valkoiniin replied.
"Will do," Jason said.
"Then this is goodbye for now, Jason."
Once more, the world around Jason began to change. The twin moons set, the stars vanished, and the clouds faded. Valkoiniin disappeared, and all that remained was a dark void.
Jason shot up from his pillow, with heavy breathing and sweat running down his body. He looked around, and realized he was still in his dormitory. Jason grabbed his phone, which was placed on his nightstand, and checked the time.
"4:03 AM... I've still got almost two hours before I have to be up," he thought to himself.
Jason took a few deep breaths, and wiped some of the sweat from his body. He then set his phone back on the nightstand, before laying down.
Jason fell back to sleep.
