I can't believe I have to work with him on this assignment. Anyone else would have been better than that silver-haired jerk, anyone at all. She glanced wearily at the potions book, a constant reminder of him with his infuriating smirk and irritating presence. In frustration, she grabbed the book and forcefully stuffed it into her shelf drawer, letting out a loud huff.
But deep down, she knew she had to complete the assignment, even if it meant working with him. Snape had made it clear that there was no way out of it. Suddenly, a soft voice caught her attention, drawing her gaze towards the window.
It was raining, a rain that Zoya adored. The gentle sound of raindrops against the glass brought a sense of calm. She walked over to the window, opening it to let in the fresh air. Taking a deep breath, she made up her mind.
She hurriedly left her dorm, descending the stairs where she encountered Kehlani. "Where are you off to?" Kehlani asked. Zoya looked at her with a slightly annoyed expression, quickly masking it as she realized it was Lani.
"I'm going to talk to Malfoy," Zoya replied before Kehlani could say anything else. With that, she left and entered the common room.
Zoya spotted Draco in the common room, his trademark smirk plastered on his face as he engaged in conversation with his friends. Summoning her courage, she approached him, determined to discuss the assignment they were stuck with. She cleared her throat to get his attention.
"Malfoy, we need to talk," Zoya said firmly, her voice cutting through the chatter around them.
Draco turned to face her, raising an eyebrow. "What is it, Zoya?" he replied, his tone laced with a mix of curiosity and annoyance.
Taking a deep breath, Zoya explained the situation. "Snape assigned us this project, and whether we like it or not, we have to work together. It's due in a few weeks, so we should start planning and collaborating as soon as possible."
Draco crossed his arms, a defiant expression on his face. "Why should I bother? I'm perfectly capable of doing it myself. Besides, I have better things to do than work with you."
Zoya's eyes narrowed, her determination growing stronger. "This assignment is important, Malfoy. We both need to do well, so let's put our differences aside and work together. We might actually surprise ourselves."
Draco hesitated for a moment, his gaze fixed on Zoya. After what felt like an eternity, he sighed and reluctantly nodded. "Fine. But don't think this means we're suddenly best friends."
Zoya couldn't help but smile, relieved that he had agreed. "Great. Let's meet in the library to discuss our plan. How about day after tomorrow at four?"
Draco nodded in agreement. "At four it is. But remember, no distractions or unnecessary chitchat."
After their discussion in the library, Zoya walked away from Draco, her mind still processing their newfound agreement.
She couldn't deny the flicker of hope that maybe, just maybe, they could work together and accomplish something remarkable. Pushing aside her lingering doubts, she made her way back to her dormitory.
As nightfall settled, Zoya prepared herself for bed. She changed into her pajamas and slipped under the covers, her thoughts swirling with anticipation and a touch of nervousness. She closed her eyes, hoping for a peaceful night's sleep, her dreams filled with visions of successful collaboration.
The next morning, sunlight filtered through the curtains, gently coaxing Zoya awake. She stretched her limbs and rubbed the sleep from her eyes, the events of the previous day returning to her consciousness. With a renewed sense of determination, she got dressed and made her way to the Great Hall for breakfast.
