Today was the day

Today was the day. It was time to see if I was in the running for the future queen.

" Turn the tv up" said my mother as she sat in the recliner with her knitting. I turned the tv up.

We saw the royals. There sat the new king Gorden his wife Simone, and their two sons. Bill and Tom.

" Anything you would like to say to the young maidens that are chosen" asked the royal adviser.

" Well enjoy being a normal girl for one more day because soon you might be the next queen of Ellesmere," said the queen. Her words stuck with me throughout the entire drawing. A list of names was placed on the screen. My eyes scanned over the list. I looked for a few moments, when...

I saw my name. I got picked.

" Oh, my baby got picked she's gonna be a queen" my mother squealed.

My body was in shock. I couldn't move. Mama grabbed my shoulders and started to shake me out of my trance. I smiled. I made it.

It worried me. The belief of the palace vs the belief of my home. My mother always taught me that women didn't just belong in the kitchen, they can do anything a man could do. While in the palace, a woman was only supposed to follow what her husband said. Which didn't go so well with me.

But none the less, I got picked and I felt amazing.
