I flattened my skirt at an attempt to make myself presentable for the press. They all were outside my house because today is the day I go to the palace. Was I nervous? Hell yea. But I wasn't going to look a plum fool Infront of the entire kingdom.
" My lady it is time the carriage is out front awaiting for our departure." said the guard. I went to hug my mother one last time and walked out the door. Tears were pouring down mama's face as she watched me leave our cottage one last time.
The press got really loud, as soon as I stepped out the house, they came at me. they asked for pictures and commentary. It really made me uncomfortable. Why do they care so much about me. I am not important like that.
When I entered the carriage, I saw all kinds of candies. They had red vines, m&m's, Hersheys, and so much more. Was I in heaven? I didn't know if I could eat any of it, so I asked the guard.
" Am I allowed to eat a piece of candy?"
He laughed. " Of course, you can right now you're at royalty status, you can do anything you want." I smiled at him and grabbed a Hershey's bar. It was so good.
While in the carriage, I started talking to the guard. I learned his name was Gustav. He was very sweet and apparently very close to the princes. Also, he is not much older than I. He is only 17. Which shocked me because he looked so much younger. Maybe like 15 or 16. we talked and laughed the whole way to the palace. The trip was 7 hours.
Was this really worth it. I mean we could have flown to the palace. When we arrived at the palace, I saw what felt like Millions of carriages. They were all different in a way. Some were different colors, others had different decorations on it. It was all so pretty.
Gustav got out of the carriage and opened the door for me. I thanked him telling him he really didn't have too and walked to where the other girls were.
Some of these girls had on so much make up it was just too scary. Like this one girl had so much blue eyeshadow on that her looked like she was actually blue. And another girl had on bright red lipstick. It was all in her teeth.
After the last girl arrived, we entered the palace and was greeted by the royal family. And by the royal family I mean only the king and Queen. The queen looked way younger than on tv. That lighting did not do her justice.
