CHAPTER 1

Jenny was a girl who had her life planned out since she was a child. Her parents made sure every aspect of her life was under control. She went to the best schools, took the best courses, and never had to make a single decision on her own. Even her hobbies were predetermined since her parents believed that they knew what was best for her. This life of mini control had suffocated Jenny, but she never had the courage to speak up. One day, Jenny met an old lady in her neighborhood park.

The old lady saw the sadness in Jenny's eyes and asked her what was wrong. Jenny poured her heart out to the old lady. The old lady listened intently, nodded her head, and said, “My dear, life is too short to spend it under someone else's control.” Those words had a profound impact on Jenny, and she decided that it was time to take control of her life.

Jenny went home that day and braced herself to tell her parents that she wanted to pursue her passion for music. Jenny had always loved music, and it was the only thing that gave her a sense of freedom. When she spoke to her parents about it, their response was not what she had hoped for.

"Jenny, you have always been good at academics. Why would you throw that away for something as uncertain as music?” said her father.
"Mom and Dad, music is what makes me happy. I don't want to live my life feeling like a prisoner," replied Jenny.

"But we want what's best for you," said her mother.

"I understand that, but it's time for me to start making my own decisions," said Jenny, with newfound confidence.

Her parents were resistant at first, but Jenny did not back down. She enrolled in a music school and worked hard to prove to her parents that she could pursue her passion and still excel academically. In time, her parents came around, and they realized that they had held onto their perception of what was best for Jenny for too long.

Jenny never looked back after that day. She went on to become a successful music producer, and her love for music led her to find her true purpose in life. The old lady in the park was right; life was too short to be under someone else's control.

"There comes a time in your life when you have to take control of your destiny. You can't always listen to what others say. You have to follow your heart and make your own decisions," said Jenny.

"I am proud of you, Jenny, for standing up for what you believe in," said the old lady with a smile.

"Thank you for giving me the courage to take control of my life," said Jenny, feeling grateful.
