(yeahhh this was meant to be a branzy centric lifesteal-outsiders fusion thing but i never really bothered to finish it lmao)
He's familiar with the feeling of being trapped. He thinks that he knows that about himself, at least.
The feeling isn't accompanied with a memory. It's just something he's aware of, like a sixth sense. Not something that you would ever stop to consider.
He wakes up in a box. A dark box. A single lantern hanging above his head acts as the only source of light in the room.
He doesn't remember how he got here. He doesn't remember anything from before that very moment.
The realization doesn't surprise him as much as it should. He thinks he's already devoted too much thought to the idea of being trapped, he can't focus on two crises at once.
He's more focused on finding a way out, and it may come from the room shrouded in darkness, where the lantern doesn't quite reach. It's the only exit in sight. The lantern is chained securely to the ceiling. He shakes it a little, trying to take it down to bring with him.
It doesn't budge after a few minutes of pulling on it, so he reluctantly continues on without it.
He walks into the dark room.
As he looks around, eyes adjusting to his surroundings. The only other thing in the room but himself is a lever.
It's tall, too. The room stretches up to what seems like a skylight. It's too far up for him to even consider scaling the wall to reach it.
