I wake up to the sound of intrusive rumbling. A picture of a thundercloud is the next thing I see, following an announcement that all activities are canceled. I'm not worried at all given that today was supposed to be Her Day. That, of course, begs the question: What will the women be doing today? Perhaps they will relax like the rest of us.
That being said, I wonder if Jenna got the message I sent her the other day. Since we are both off, I wonder if perhaps we can call and talk with other later on. Given it is nasty out, going to see her would probably be a bad idea.
Since I am awake now, I hop in the shower. Once that is done, I put on some jeans and a red shirt with a black 33 on the front. A few minutes later, I go to check the cafeteria to see if anything interesting going on.
The cafeteria itself is practically empty, save for a few guys. Brian and Jason are there, already eating today's special: chicken and waffles by the looks of it. There also appears to be the usual fare: eggs, sausage, hot and cold cereal, and even some freshly baked biscuits.
I fill my plate with today's morning special and a few eggs and sit beside them. "Morning," I say.
Brian and Jason greet me warmly. Upon closer inspection, I see that Jason still has that Watch on him. I can't help but think about that grueling obstacle that we went through yesterday.
"Quite the crazy day yesterday, huh?" Jason asks, reading my mind, "I'm still sore from all that."
"I hear that," Brian agrees, to which I just nod.
"Well, at least you two were able to go home early. Speaking of which, what did you two do all day yesterday?"
"Well, I iced my knees and took a long nap." Brian looks over at me, taking a sip of what I assume is orange juice. "What about you?"
I nearly choked on a piece of waffle. Fortunately, I had drunk something to force it down. "Right, um... I went back to my place to unwind as well, only to find out I had a message waiting for me."
Brian and Jason seemingly put two-and-two together. "From your lady friend, I take it?" Brian asks.
"Hey, now, come on!" I say defensively, "It's not like that!"
"Uh-huh," Jason says, "So, what did she say?"
"Well, she..." I didn't feel comfortable telling them something confidential. Well, more so because I would never hear the end of it. However, regardless of what I did, everyone would find out sooner or later. "All she said was she liked talking with me before and wanted to talk more. That's it."
As expected, the grins they sported made me want to sock them. "Well, well... I didn't think you had it in ya, way to go, buddy!" Jason said.
I sigh, pinching the bridge of my nose.
"Come on, now, Jason," Brian says, "Leave the poor man alone."
"I know, I know. I'm only teasing him. So, you plan on seeing more of her?"
"Maybe," I say, mopping up the syrup with some chicken. "I did like talking with her before." But still... pursuing something deeper?
"I think you should," Brian says. "I mean, if she wants to talk further, why not see where it goes?"
Could I? I walk back to my room a short time later and sit down. This whole business with Jenna has me baffled and unfocused. I don't like being like this—so unsure as to what I should do. I am curious about this woman, don't get me wrong, but what if all of this is a big misunderstanding? Perhaps I should call her and clear the air. Squaring away any miscommunication would certainly be a benefit.
