SATURDAY

Alex and I never talked about what happened the night before. Whatever I had felt change between us as we watched the fireworks either was not reciprocated or had never existed in the first place. Maybe we were both just trying to ignore it because...

Because we left tomorrow.

Something dropped in my stomach at the thought, and when he woke, too, I distracted myself from any thoughts of the day before

through a lazy make-out session that ended with me grinding on top of him, fisting his soft, cotton t-shirt in my hands as he groaned against my mouth.

We finally somehow pushed away from each other when we heard voices passing a little too close to our tent, and emerged a few seconds later looking the least amount of tussled as possible. Max didn't fail to give me a smirk as we approached his camper for coffee, though. Luckily, he didn't say anything aloud, and only continued his conversation about some sport team with Sam and Matt after handing me a mug of coffee. Alex joined in after emerging from the camper with his own mug.

I wrapped my fingers around the warm ceramic and stalked off to sit next to Amanda, Camila, and- Maria, surprisingly. I wonder if she and Max ever hooked up again over the course of the week. I suppose it was none of my business even if Max was insistent on sticking his nose in my love life.

"Good morning," Camila said a bit to enthusiastically for me. I was still in the midst of waking up.

"Where's Kate?" I examined the group of people that had gathered around Max's camper- each one with mismatched souvenir

mugs of coffee in their hands. Kate and Daniel were the only ones missing. "And Daniel?"

"They're still in the trailer," Amanda smirked.

"We all slept in Max's camper last night," Camila gestured towards Amanda. "So they could celebrate privately."

"How considerate of you," I held back my laugh. I resisted the urge to tell them that I was quite certain nothing happened between the two last night, despite their engagement. Kate didn't like everyone knowing if anything was happening- she was pretty private about her life. However, they were still in the trailer- maybe the excitement of the engagement had her breaking her own rules.

"I'm honestly debating crashing in there again tonight," Camila said. "Did you know that thing has AC and heat? It was amazing not falling asleep shivering and waking up covered in my own sweat. Sam lets off a lot of heat- which is nice for falling asleep, but then it all gets trapped under the blanket."

"If you think he does, you should try sleeping next to Matt," Amanda mumbled. "I swear that guy's internal body temperature is above a hundred."

"I've actually been pretty content," I said, taking a sip of the coffee in my mug now that it

was finally cool enough to do so.

"I'm sure you are," Camila smirked, and I rolled my eyes. "Alex can't be too bad a person to share a bed with."

"Apparently he snores," Kate's voice came from behind us as she and Daniel approached hand-in-hand towards the small group of girls. We began whistling and cheering, and soon the guys joined in. Kate's face flushed pink, but Daniel only smiled and pecked her cheek before dropping her hand and disappearing into Max's camper- no doubt to grab both of them coffee as well. Kate dropped into the seat next to me.
