Chapter 13.

Sawyer

This has to be the most unimaginable pain I have ever felt in my entire life, and I've barely felt pain because of my secluded lifestyle.

I throw my head back against the leather and inhale a much needed breath of air as the next contraction goes over.

Ryder strokes my hair back with his one good hand, his now boney and pale hand. The boy I once knew is no longer in front of me and it's hard to imagine I knew this man before. Tears spring to my eyes again, "Ryder." I cry.

How the hell could he do this to Ryder? Papà knows how much Ryder means to me, it's clear to see he was starved, beaten and god knows what else. I should have done more, tried to escape more and get to him faster.

Ryder leans forward and kisses my forehead once, twice and then three times. "i'm right here." he whispers, "the whole way my love, I'll be right here by your side."

I kiss him on the lips and make sure he's settled back into the seat again, I don't need him getting hurt anymore than he already is. Another contraction hits as we pull up in front of the hospital and Nikolai is out of his seat and out the door in a second. "Nikolai is grabbing the wheelchairs, we're going to get you guys a room together so you can both get checked out at the same time."

"I don't need anything," Ryder assures, "I'm fine-."

"Ryder." I hear a voice from the door and Nikolai looks down at him with a look that even I know he shouldn't argue with. "you'll get checked out and bandaged."

Ryder clears his throat and looks down at his feet, "yes sir."

Nikolai helps him out onto wheelchair and then helps me out onto one, and I sit just in time for the next contraction. "Mother of fuck." I yell out and lurch forward.

Ryder looks helpless as he tried to stand up and come help me but the more he tries the more I cry out at him to sit the hell back down. "okay, easy there tiger." Nikolai settles Ryder back down. Jade finishes getting everything and then wheels me forward to the entrance of the hospital.

"Jade," she states at the front, "we talked earlier,"

The Nurse smiles and walks around the counter, he grabs a clipboard, "follow me," he instructs and leads us by many rooms toward a more secluded part of the hospital. He opens a door to his right and waves us in, "a doctor will be with you right away."

"Dr Baze?" Nikolai affirms and with a nod from the nurse everything seems to be set right as they want it. Jade helps me onto one of the beds while Nikolai gets Ryder settled on the other.

"Nikolai! Jade!" a voice booms as they enter and a doctor strolls through with an easy grin on his face. I stare at the slightly older gentlemen before me who cant be too much older than my parents. "look at you two, lord almighty, the nostalgia,"

"what?" Ryder asks in almost a daze.

"oh, pardon me," the gentleman comes forward and after hugging Jade and Nikolai begins the much awaited introductions. "I delivered these two's babies." he smirks, "they came in here a bit younger then you did, knocked up and scared and I was the only one who didn't rat them out."

Jade crosses her arms with an easy smile, "you can trust him honey, he delivered all of my kids,"

I nod and release a breath of relief just as another contraction hits, "how long apart are her contractions?" He asks.

"still far apart," Jade rubs my back gently, "8 minutes."

Dr Baze whistles lowly and puts some blue latex gloves on, "if its okay with you Sawyer, im just going to check your diameter, just to check how far along we are."
