Nightmares, horrors in a dream that were once safe.

Nina had been having them for months now. First it was just their faces, then their words, then she was reliving their deaths. Her mother and father strangled by the powers of her best friend. Twisted thought that was. Only to know it was Nina's fault they died though, her own stupidity led to their death's. She watched that scene over and over, yet in her dreams their last words were very different.

"It should've been you"

Nina was the last Levitsky standing, why? Because she was the only one who got powers from Hydra's testing. Only member of their family that survived Hydra's testing. She survived over and over just to watch everyone around her fall. Only other family she knew was behind bars for trying to kill her.

Everything started 8 months ago, with the plan to steal from the Avengers and live on the run. Yet her friends had other plans. Erika fell in love with James Barnes and joined the Avengers alongside him. Jae didn't quite join the avengers but works as an apprentice to Tony Stark and is developing his own Iron Man inspired suit. They forgot their plan and let the Avengers take over. While Nina was left to try and piece her world back together. Nina was drifting farther away from them everyday and they couldn't see it.

"Nina?" a knock came at the door.

"Who is it?" Nina said groggily as she rose from her bed, her concrete stuffed bed. Nothing's better than a cheap apartment.

"It's Randy, I'm coming about rent again." Except when you can't even afford the cheap apartment.

"Oh shit, hey Randy, I get paid tonight. I'll swing by after my shift, promise!" Nina placed a hand to her fore head, 8 months ago she was taking out Hydra Agents but today she's working a night shift at a cruddy bar down a shady alley.

"Uh- yeah okay, Just I can't push it back anymore Nina." Randy's nervous voice said, she could basically hear the twiddling of his thumbs as he stood outside her door.

Nina threw the blanket covers over her legs, she had fallen asleep in her work clothes again, which meant she'd have to sit outside the laundry room to make sure this pair didn't get stolen this time.

Nina made it to the door and unhooked the many locks to open the door, she installed many useless sets of locks to ensure pure safety, to meet Randy's nervous features.

"How much do I owe you again?" Nina blinked with squinted eyes at Randy as she opened the door to let in the apartment's hallway lights.

"Nina we talked about this!" Randy complained, he kept his voice hushed but Nina knew that he tried really hard not to get angry with his renters, not your usual landlord.

"I know! I'm sorry Randy, it's been a rough week." Nina looked at the floor when these words escaped her lips, she caught the glimpse of the nightmare she'd been reliving for the past month.

"$2,000 at least, since I've last checked." Randy muttered.

"Shit, okay. I'll get it to you, promise." Nina gave Randy a thumbs up and wished him well as she closed her apartment door behind her. Nina took a deep breath as the door shut. She looked at the kitchen clock to find out how late she'd slept this time.

2:18 p.m

"What's become of me?" Nina face planted into her unmade bed.
