TW: Blood Drinking, mild smut starting at the middle of the chapter

******

That night, Hongjoong didn't sleep as well as before. His slumber was light, as if he kept bordering on waking. He couldn't tell what troubled him, but since it wasn't a furious crowd with torches breaking down the gate to the tomb, he huddled into his cape and trusted his body to doze off. It continued like that for many hours. Once, he stirred since he heard a grinding noise of stone, but he thought it was part of his addling dreams. Later, the room was too bright for him, so he rolled, only to find himself safely enclosed and settle again. Every time he fell into another fitful slumber, his dreams tricked him into nightmares.

Hongjoong dreamt of a pack of wolves chasing him through the forest. He knew he was safe and sound in his coffin in Seonghwa's tomb, but in his dream, he was thrown back to the cruel reality he lived just a few days ago. His legs were shredded from the bramble as he stumbled and heaved. The sound of paws scraped over the forest flour and he believed to feel their wet pants on the back of his neck. No matter how he ran and sobbed, he couldn't escape. The inevitable happened, and he got tripped up by treacherous roots and crashed into the snow. The wolves were above him within a heartbeat, heavy paws on his chest as a maw full of sharp teeth drooled down on him. Hongjoong snapped awake when the drop of saliva on his cheek felt all too real. He jerked up with the vision of yellow eyes gleaming in the dark fresh on his mind.

Only to find himself trapped not under a wolf, but under Seonghwa.

The scream that had been bubbling in his throat broke free of Hongjoong's mouth. He scrambled backward, but the tall sides of the coffin trapped him and above hovered the vampire that lost all prior charm.

In the green light of the torches, Seonghwa looked consumed by madness. He wasn't perturbed by Hongjoong's cry, staring down at him where he braced on all fours above him. His back was hunched, his face angled to gaze at Hongjoong for Lord knew how long. Frenzy reflected in his glowing eyes and their red was so unnatural, yet precious, like rubies. If there hadn't been a grimace on his face, Hongjoong might have found them beautiful.

Seonghwa's nose scrunched around his snarl that exposed his teeth. They bared at Hongjoong like those of a dog, and his unnaturally long fangs stood out among the rest like daggers. Drool dripped from him to wet Hongjoong's cheek and the vampire's entire body trembled with his effort for restraint.

Hongjoong lay pale as a sheet, not daring to breathe. The vampire's shirt hung from him in disarray, granting the view of a sliver of his slender waist. He hadn't bothered with shoes, legs opened to pin the petrified human in his coffin.

"S-Seonghwa?" Hongjoong squeaked, almost not recognising him. Danger wafted off his new friend and every rational thought in Hongjoong's brain comprehended it was time to run from this creature.

"Go," Seonghwa growled between his teeth, further proving Hongjoong's point. His veins bulged against the skin of his neck as he held back.

As the shock cleared Hongjoong's mind, insight crashed into him.

Seonghwa hadn't eaten yet. Hongjoong came back without a warning and brought his delicious scent inside without checking if Seonghwa was sated. Now his instinct demanded its meal.

Terrified, Hongjoong lay below him. He couldn't move, couldn't even blink as he stared at the beast above. Nothing classy remained on Seonghwa as the horrific truth of his being broke out.

"Go," he barked once more, making Hongjoong flinch. Seonghwa was as if chained in his spot, not trusting a movement before his resolve would crumble. "I don't... I don't want to hurt you."
