I laughed as my older brother Peter pulled silly faces at me across the table.
"Now, now eat your food kids" said our mother with her beautiful smile, containing laughter of her own as she placed our plates in front of us.
My grin grows as i see mine with chocolate drizzled pancakes and so does my brother as he sees his own with smothered in honey, as we thanked her and stared to gobble the food down, as our dad came into the room.
"What's so funny dear" he asked mum, who only giggled herself looking towards us, which intrigued him further.
"Nothing, nothing don't worry" she replied with a smile.
He only sighed as he started to eat, smiles still present on all our faces.
After I finished my pancakes, I jumped out of my chair placed my plate by the sink and ran up the stairs in a rush.
Half way up the stairs I got a weird feeling in my hands looking at them in confusion I frown.
After a few seconds of confusion, I fall to my knees starting to cry as pain engulfed my hands suddenly.
I went to wipe my eyes as i could not see but the pain intensified with a simple touch and I screamed.
My family ran towards the stairs, to see me curled up against the wall, my eyes were blurry from the tears and my dad picked me up and placed me on his knee, rocking me in attempt to calm me down.
My mother went to grab my hands to comfort me and ask what was wrong but as soon as her skin made contact we screamed.
My eyes watched in terror as she tumbled back and fell down the stairs, landing at the bottom with a crunch at my brothers feet.
I ripped free from dad's frozen hold and ran up to her body, placing my hands on her weakening chest I started to cry harder wishing her to be safe, to not be hurt.
After minutes which felt like hours my brother pulled me back.
"Look" he muttered in my ear with a shocked filled voice.
I look up through glazed eyes to see her sitting upright, looking around in confusion and my dad waving his hands around in front of her, speaking very quickly.
"Mummy ?" I mutter in confusion and happiness, as i reach out towards her from my brothers hold, she turns to me in shock and screams, looking at my outstretched hands.
I cower back into my brothers hold which was now frozen, opening my eyes i look at my hands.
I jump up as I look at my hands in shock, tears flooding down my cheeks.
They were grey.
And as I realised this everything went dark as I collapsed back into my brothers arms.
~*~
My eyes dart open as I realised I accidentally fell asleep.
Sitting upright I look at my hands once more.
Grey.
I cry.
