Out of touch [REMASTERED]

Small AN before we dive in. This is a chapter that takes place in The Book of Regrets, so memeories from there are going to be written like this

Gene was at his desk, printing the blue print for a new invention, an exploration vehicle that would help him get out of this Hell hole, this is his motivation, his and his best friend's motivation

"Hey Gene! How's the print going?" Flavio said as he walked in

"Going well, this is going to be my biggest invention! The way it's going to be made will be like nothing they ever saw!" Gene said excited, things been going well for him. Too well

"I wanted to thank you for helping me switch classes, i hated Chemistry, i mean it's easy it's just..not what i wanted to do you know?"

"Yeah i got you, I'm not good at Engineering, i just don't have the patience" Flavio said, as he watched Gene hang up the print.

"We'll soon be out of this dome..." Gene said as he watched the print proudly

"...are you sure it's safe outside,Gene? Couldn't you be...wrong?.."

Gene laughed as he though Flavio was just messing with him, he stoped when he saw Flavio's concerned look

"Oh you're not joking..." Gene said

Flavio looked away, Gene went and sat next to him

"Im 100% sure there's something out there! Come on Flavio think! We can finally have freedom! Doesn't that sound good?" Gene said smiling, trying to cheer his friend up

Flavio's worried look didn't wash off his face, Gene took notice of it

"Imagine all the new chemical elements you can experiment with...you could make even bigger explosive... sounds good, huh?" Gene said as he slightly pushed Flavio with his shoulder

"Gene..be serious,this is a big thing.."

"But i am serious! Think about it Flavio! We can finally be free do whatever we want! Just the two of us! I'll start working on the vehicle as soon as possible! Until then let's make up a plan! We need one!"

Flavio smiled softly and they began working on a plan.

And there was he, standing behind, Gene has been tearing his way through his memories and he came across this one. Perfect. He watched as the memeory started to repeat,small glitches there and there. This was a memeory that hurt Gene for many reasons, one of them being how he used to be. Full of life and an optimist,he was young and stupid, he put his trust in people too easily, he regrets it. Gene aslo noticed that the more his regret grew,various purple cracks are around the scene, small, depends on how much he regrets. He decided he won't stay in this memory, he found a crack big enough for him to fit through,and he left that memeory, moved to the next one, although he wondered a bit around, away from the memeory, his mind wondered to Alex, how was he? How was he dealing with all of this back home. If he's being honest he misses him a lot. He decided to take a deep breath and go back to the memory at hand, he stayed close enough to hear what's the memeory about

"Well that didn't work out the way i wanted it to work" Gene said slightly disappointed, he tried for a few days to set up a power source for the vehicle but nothing worked, he needed a strong electronical brain since what he has in mind isn't something small. He sat on the floor frustrated with tons of screws and scrap metal around him

"Wow Gene that's...a lot of metal" Flavio said as he handed Gene a cup of coffee

"Yeah and nothing works..this is pointless" Gene said as he took a sip out of his coffee

"Don't worry you'll succeed, by the way hope you're ready for tomorrow's test"

Gene paused for a moment before looking back at Flavio

"What test?" Gene asked

"...the math test?..."

"What math test?!"

"Mr.Huston? He said it like 2 weeks ago did you really forget?" Flavio said trying not to laugh

"I didn't 'forget' i was a busy man these days aaand i completely forgot and im screwed Ms.Huston is gonna fail me so bad I'll actually hit the floor" Gene said covering his face with his hands

"How did you manage this, Ms.Perfection"

"It just happened ok? I was too excited about this whole Leaving home thing that i actually forgot" Gene said getting up. Flavio laughed slightly as he handed Gene some papers "The lesson we're taking the test from" Flavio said, Gene's eyes lit up as he took the papers and gave Flavio a hug before leaving to study. Flavio smiled softly and went in his own room to rest.

Gene looked at the memeory that played in repeat, his heart sunk everytime he'd hear their interactions, he wished they never happened, he wished he'd forget them but he can't...he Regrets them...more cracks appear the more he regrets, he knows he's somehow helping Erembour by regretting these memories, but he can't help it. It hurts too much. Gene left the scene to wonder off, he forgot how closed off the Technopolis was, and how you could see Computer supreme everywhere, what a sore eye sight, he doesn't regret taking her down. He was in fact proud of it. Leaving this aside,Gene tried to figure out if there's a way out of this book? Can he get out? Can anyone come look after him? Will he even make it out alive? He knew something's gonna happen he felt it, everytime he has an eerie feeling it proves to be correct, and no one listens to him everytime he tries to warn them! But it's fine, it's fine. It going to be a-okay. That's what he hopes...he should keep moving.
