The following day, a Saturday, Jack found himself with little to do after helping his grandmother with her morning tasks. He embarked on a mission with his loyal companion, Peter, to search for suitable wood in the nearby woods. Gathering the necessary materials, Jack loaded them into a wheelbarrow and headed home. That night, Jack tirelessly constructed the ladder, his determination to taste one of the mangoes driving him forward.
By morning, the ladder was completed. It happened to be a Sunday, the day Jack and his grandmother traditionally attended church. Unfortunately, Jack was too tired to go and decided to rest, while his grandmother attended the service alone. With the ladder finished it was now time for Jack to bring it to the mango tree.
Knowing he needed help to carry the ladder, Jack enlisted the assistance of his friends from the neighborhood. Together, they used a wheelbarrow to transport the ladder to the mango tree. Sammy, sitting on his veranda, observed Jack's actions. Jack's grandmother and her friends also stopped by after church and witnessed his determined endeavor. Word spread throughout the community.
