Avery's Pov
The exhaustion had hit me like any other night. The soft sounds of the loud waves and ocean lulling me to sleep while Tuk was curled up gently onto my stomach, the morning of being woken up I had time to marvel in all the dawn like scenery.
The sun slowly rising right to the edge of the sea sore. It reminded me of the last few days in the hallelujah mountains, minus all the war and the disaster.
The morning day hit of the Metkayina clan everyone waking. Kids rushing off do their lessons others going off to hunt for different meals, the Tsahik, Ronal getting ready in her mauri from the side.
It felt foreign standing at the beach, for a moment wiggling my toes all around. I turned my attention when a big hand was touching at my shoulder. A gingerly smile was on Ke'nai's
face the breeze blowing through the strands of his hair.
"You rise really early, it is impressive to see. Do you wanna join the others for their breathing and swim lessons?" I made a slight face behind my mask, clicking my tongue a couple times.
"I don't know if I'm gonna learn like the rest of them... And Ao'nung and his friends make me feel.." I stammered for a moment to form words.
"A freak? Oh trust me I know he's my adopted brother, when I was little he was always staring and me wondering just what I was." I faintly smiled the both of us starting to walk towards the area all the others were out.
"I have a little sky demon in me. My mother actually it's where my albino skin comes from. Trust me all me and him did was fight bloody noses and bruises. Tonowari was so upset the bond of family." My head faintly nodded a few times in place being helped up into the platform,were I could spot the others all around the rocks.
Lo'ak spotted me flashing me a kind smile although he looked flustered with Tsierya touching at his chest, he looked like he would burst any minute.
"Your heart beat is really fast.. Try and relax." She told him, a soft smile decorating her lips. Neteyam looked between Roax and a few other of Ao'nung's friends they were smirking like they knew something.
"Avery! Ke'nai come breath with us!" I smiled in Tuk's direction, before the both of us were sitting down side by side shoulders touching.
"So it's starts from here in your belly think of it like a flame, traveling up and up." I listened to his deep voice finding my own self growing flustered while his hand moved up till they were near my heart.
"Now focus on the sound of your heart on your ribcage.. Even humans can do this little one, when you dive you can go longer your heart beat is really fast too." He noted those words to me, causing me to grow flustered hearing the laughter coming from my close friends.
I narrowed my eyes at Neteyam seeing him send me a goofy look with a smile.
"Ahem." Lo'ak quickly coughed hard like sputtering out like he couldn't breath for a moment. "Sorry! So can we try diving now?" He questioned in a fast tone, ignoring all the laughter around him, he just smirked casually.
"We can try diving I can show you my liu. She's a sweet girl like you." I stared my round eyes at Ka'nei as much as I could before Lo'ak was blurting out his tail shifting to wrap around his upper leg.
"You sure are a flirt aren't you?" He questioned nodding his head towards Ka'nei who casually just flashed him a smile.
"And are you not with my sister?" His statement had me almost laughing at how fast boys could just argue.
"This is funny! But I wanna get through the lessons so hurry up." Ao'nung exclaimed out between everyone shifting his eyes around, Lo'ak slightly rolled his eyes a few times muttering to himself before everyone was gathering up rushing to run off diving into the water fast like with loud cheers and shouts of happiness.
"Come on Tuk." I smiled holding her hand both of us rushing to jump into the water with one another. I slightly bobbed to the surface shaking out my sudden wet hair, looking beside me Ke'nai had gotten rid of his extra layer of loincloth back floating staring up into the sky clouds so suddenly.
Why the hell was I watching him so much? I wasn't even too sure my self it was like watching someone who was different to you still be same as you in some ways.
I had almost found myself drowning in a state of water when a large wad of water had splashed over me causing me thrash around, seeing Lo'ak look away casually a little whistle leaving. I dunked under the water with mask taking a breath, before I jump up from behind him slightly stuffing him quickly into the water hearing loud shrieking from his part.
"Hey let me go! Help she's trying to kill me." He yelped through his laughter, his large head bobbing up a few times to sputter out the water like a mad man. I felt his tail suddenly wrap around my arm in a strange manner.
"You are such an ass."
