Stevie spotted Blake in the crowd and she waved and smiled brightly at her mother on the stage, Blake thought it was awesome seeing her mother on the big stage, she just didn't know why she was there. Her old mentor seemed to be sober enough, probably until he reaches the train and drowns his sadness and anger in Vodka and Brandy. Stevie thought it would be a good idea to wear somewhat revealing clothes, she wants the capital to like her again so why not show them what they love? She is sure they'll be so excited to see her body once again.
" Welcome, to the reaping of the seventy-fifth hunger games!" District Nine's Escort announced, his name was Tobias, and he was very enthusiastic about everything. That's all in the job description from Snow, ' be enthusiastic, make them love the games'. Stevie isn't sure who Snow is trying to kid on that one.
" As always, we will begin with the women" Tobias walked over to the reaping bowl and pulled out the only paper slip present
" The female tribute for district nine. Stephaine Burke"
Hearing her name being called made it feel so much realier, the realisation of returning to the games all felt like a reality now. There was no turning back unless she killed herself but that wasn't an option in Stevie's eyes. She blanked out the entire ceremony until she felt hands on her arm.
" Come let's go Princess" He had a strong grip but Stevie was stronger
" Mommy!" Stevie Heard Blake calling for her which resulted in many gasps
" I love you baby, be good!" Stevie said trying to break free from the peacekeepers grasp
" I love you too Mommy" That's the last thing she heard from her daughter before she was thrown into a car and driven towards the train station, that was the hardest goodbye for Stevie, when she was first reaped Blake was only one and had no idea what was happening but now she knows, she understands which makes everything worse for Stevie.
" Well that was a surprise, I didn't think you were the mother type" The alcoholic mentor said as they both boarded the train
" Well you don't actually know me so how would you think I was the mother type or not" Stevie said and he held his hands up in defense
" She is absolutely beautiful Stevie, she looks so much like you. How old is she?" Tobias asked as he sipped her tea
" She is six, I had her before I was reaped. My life feels like a never-ending whirlwind that never has any intention of slowing down" Stevie said and also poured herself a cup of tea
" I am so sorry that you couldn't say goodbye to her properly, how come you never mentioned her before?" Tobias and Stevie sighed
" I didn't want the capitol knowing about her, I only recently told a really close friend about her and to be honest I had no intention of any else knowing but when she called out for me I couldn't ignore her, that could've been the last time I ever laid eyes on her" Stevie said and tears began to well in her eyes, that could've been her last moments with her little girl.
The train felt quicker than ever, they weren't wasting any time getting us to the capitol. They wanted us there within no time, the capitol makes Stevie feel sick to her stomach. The crowds have crowded around her train and have banners in their hands, she has seen banners with Blake's name on it, guess they watched her reaping. The banners say ' we love Stevie, we love Blake' god these people are weird. This is what she didn't want to happen, she didn't want her child in the capitols eyes.
Stevie wore a short mini skirt as she stepped off the train and her boob tube top matched her outfit. They like her body, they are going to see her body. Stevie just can't get over the fact that she went from no one knowing about her daughter, to know the whole knowing.
" Hello Momma" Stevie knew it was Finnick straight away
" Please don't start, this is why I didn't want people to know about her" Stevie said as she continued to walk
" I don't blame you, the people here are like freaks. You look hot though" Finnick said and winked walking quicker to meet up with mags, it broke Stevie's heart knowing that women was going into the games, she doesn't deserve it, no of them do but that woman she really doesn't.
The walk to the training centre was painful and long, the name calling and geering was too much for Stevie to handle, usually her tributes are the ones getting shouted at, not this time. She hasn't seen Johanna yet which worried her, was she weird about Blake? Was she lying on the phone? Stevie knows Johanna can be men but she doesn't think she'd be that mean. Tobias brought her and her drunken fellow tribute to their penthouse, it was beautiful, much nicer than any of the other tributes she has ever been in before. The penthouse was beautifully decorated and servants were in every corner, they were victors, snow would've had to have some sort of luxury planned out. Stevie managed to sneak out a small picture of Blake, she looked so happy in the picture, like she doesn't have a fear in the world. The innocence in her eyes is what saddened Stevie the most, she never wanted Blake to lose that innocence, she was fearful of the capitol getting a grip on her.
Stevie stared at the picture the smile never left her face, her smile never left when it had anything to do with her daughter. Stevie knows Blake is probably extremely confused, why had her mom left her again. Stevie would love to know the answer to know that too.
Stevie would like to know the answers to many questions.
