April 29th, 2023 – White House, Washington D.C, United States of America
President Joe Biden looks out of a window, sighing in exhaustion as he's currently busy with paperwork related to the Russo-Ukrainian War. Suddenly, a call from one of his phones broke the silence of the Oval Office. He briskly steps over and answers the call, the receiver pressed against his ear.
"This is Biden, go ahead."
"Mister President, it's me, Lloyd Austin, sir. The DOD classified documents... they're being leaked across the globe."
"How's that possible? Do you know who did that?"
"According to the NSA, it's was a teenager, we're sending the National Guard to arrest him"
"Do your job and deal with the kid, or it will affect our reputation, Mr Lloyd!"
"Yes, Mr. President, we'll do what we can to limit the leaked information."
The call promptly ended and there's not much happiness on Sleepy Joe's face. He moves back to his chair to continue his work until the gods gift him with the world's best alarm clock. The outside sky suddenly gets filled with a bright, blinding light, shocking the president who desperately covers his eyes with an arm to prevent his eyes from getting burnt.
Immediately, several Secret Service agents flooded into the room and hastily evacuated him. This chain of events caught him way out of his norm, as he hadn't figured out what happened yet.
"Was that a nuclear attack? How did it get past our defenses?"
The Secret Service rushed the president alongside several other powerful figures of the US government into the Presidential Emergency Operations Center, the bunker underneath the White House. The American political members were worried as to what was happening in the outside world before connection was re-established from the Pentagon.
"Mr. President, this is General Mark Miley. The light wasn't a nuclear attack, as there doesn't seem to be any infrastructure damage nor a mushroom cloud, sir."
"What do we know about that mysterious flash, General?"
"Sir, as far as I know, the whole country has already witnessed the event. The military has been currently placed on DEFCON 2, the first since the Cuban Missile Crisis."
"Oh... that's not good. Well, we'll have an announcement tomorrow. Let the folks know what's going on"
John F. Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, Florida
Inside the NASA office, everything was running smoothly as if nothing happened due to the indoor working facility making the staff unaware of the bright light. Despite that, tension among the staff spread like wildfire.
"Uh, boss?" A young man called out, sprinting across the floor with a tablet in hand. "Boss! We've lost contact with all satellites!"
Administrator Bill Nelson turned from the console, eyebrows raised. "What are you talking about, Rick?"
"The uplink is gone! All of it — Hubble, ISS, NOAA birds — just gone!"
"That's impossible," Bill muttered. "The uplinks are triple-redundant. These systems are protected against solar storms, ground interference—everything. We've invested billions—"
"I know that!" Rick interrupted, eyes wide. "But it's happening!"
Suddenly, all SatComs returned back to normal, but there was something unusual on display. Two moons were on display with the uplink from the Hubble space telescope, shocking everyone in the room.
